The Trial of Lucy Letby: The Inquiry
Lucy Letby is a child killer. Last year she was convicted of murdering seven babies and trying to murder six more while working as a neo-natal nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital, in the NW of England and was sentenced to spend her life in jail. She also went back in court to face a retrial on one charge the jury could not reach a verdict on - the alleged Attempted Murder of a premature baby girl, known as Baby K. She was found guilty once again. Follow the trial's evidence just as the jury do, with twice-weekly reports from Daily Mail northern correspondent Liz Hull and broadcast journalist Caroline Cheetham. In this podcast, they bring you far more detail about what the jury heard, examine key moments of the trial, and conduct exclusive interviews with investigative detectives, victims, and experts. Very biased

I know this is the Daily Mail but surely even they would choose reporters who can at least pronounce common words properly. It’s so irritating to hear “graph” with a flat ‘a’ over and over. I hope we get to hear more from professionals like professor Jane Hutton. Although they call it “addressing the doubters” rather than something like “asking the professionals” The reporters have clearly already decided.
Worrying

It seems to me that it was all trial by media. The podcast is so biased against Lucy she doesn’t stand a chance. I also didn’t particularly like the voices of the two readers. I also abhorred the way Lucy is referred to as a “worst child killer in UK”. Surely that would be Myra Hindley or Rose West!! Totally & utterly without a doubt monsters but Lucy ……. I’m just not sure. I just cannot fathom why a clever, wonderful nurse with all her qualifications & dedication would have done this to those gorgeous babies. The evidence is all circumstantial - there were no witnesses to any cruel treatment - how can this nurse be sentenced to 15 life sentences !!!! It just smacks of populist vengeance. It is incredibly sad and I think there needs to be a retrial. Lucy was not well served hy her defence team. Let’s watch this space for how long the court of appeal takes to redress this. Maybe they should be on trial for all the errors they have made with people’s lives.
Why did I bother

I don’t know why I bothered listening to the latest ep. I’ve followed the trial the whole way through, including listening to the podcast, and it was clear pretty early on what the hosts position was, as with the wider media and public opinion; that Lucy is guilty. Those of us who questioned what we were hearing were dismissed as conspiracy theorists or armchair detectives and uncaring towards the babies and families directly impacted. To not address our concerns as genuine and in good faith is so insulting and displays such a wild lack of imagination - even titling this episode as ‘addressing the doubters’ shows such contempt for those who think differently, having consumed the same information. The hosts patronise the experts they’ve invited on, showing no interest in hearing what they have to say in good faith - their position clearly cannot and will not be changed, which is just journalistically and professionally embarrassing tbh. It matters because the tone set throughout this podcast dictates how the wider public perceive the trial - if the media refuse to engage in the concerns raised (by experts with knowledge that clearly surpasses that of the hosts and the wider public!!) then how can we expect the public to. It’s infuriating, churlish, and deeply disappointing.
A guilty serial killer

Really quite worrying the amount of Lucy Letby fans there are out there and leaving feedback. This podcast is thorough in their presentation of facts of the trial. If you still think she’s innocent then you need to do more research and reading up of the whole evidence or you’re just completely ignorant and nothing will change your mind. RIP to all the babies and love to their families. An evil murderer is rightly behind bars were she can never harm another child again
