I’m here today with Nick Ortner, the CEO of The Tapping Solution, a company with a mission to bring tapping to the mainstream. What is tapping, you ask? Think of it as modern psychology meets ancient Chinese acupressure, but self-administered in the comfort of your home. I use it during times of stress or when I’m trying to derail a negative habit. It’s calming and has scientifically proven benefits. In this episode, Nick and I walk you through the science of tapping and how to try it for yourself. Also check out Nick’s app (linked in the resources), which I have on my phone. It has very simple tapping exercises that you can use for everything from stress to sleep, to pain, to emotional eating, to learning, to exercise, to fear of flying — literally everything! Episode Highlights: The Tapping Solution How pressure on certain parts of the body calms fight or flight response Why tapping is also called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) The incredible (science-backed) connection between mind and body How to recognize patterns of overwhelm that point to the places we are “stuck” in our heads and in our lives Why what you say to yourself is as important as tapping The mental and emotional component of chronic pain Guidance for using HRV as a measure for health How tapping works for anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, and more Connecting tapping with breathing for relaxation Specific techniques for tapping (even ones you can do in public) And more! Dr. Lyla Blake-Gumbs is a board-certified family and functional medicine physician with 22 years of clinical training and experience. I met Dr. Lyla when she joined SteadyMD, which I’ve shared about before. We also talk about hormone replacement therapy and whether this the best or only option for women looking for hormonal support as they age. I’ll definitely be taking notes on this interview as I’m not an expert (yet!). I’m grateful to Dr. Lyla for being here to address a topic that affects so many women and isn’t talked about enough from a proactive perspective. Brilliant, Informative and Eye-Opening

This is my favourite podcast to listen to. After stumbling upon Katie and Wellness Mama in around 2014 I've learnt so much about health and she is so clued up on so many aspects of natural living and how to lead a healthier life. All of the topics are so interesting and all of the guest are truly experts in their fields. Katie is so engaging and her genuine passion for spreading the word about natural health and healing is inspiring. It's amazing to have this knowledge and information for free via a podcast and I would recommend this podcast to anyone at all interested in learning more about true health and wellness. Thank you Katie And the Wellness Mama team 💛 Lauren - London

Slow down!

Love Terry Wahls, but Katie’s speed of talking borders on gabbling. Please take a deep breath and slow down. Sounds like you are talking in double time. Really difficult to follow.
