Have you ever wondered how, after tragedy hits, some people are able to move forward and thrive?

In each episode of Tough Love, I'll interview a guest who has been through a traumatic experience such as medical infertility, divorce, abuse, the loss of a spouse, addiction, anorexia, a cancer diagnosis, a prison sentence.

I will listen to their story and ask questions. I'll concentrate on the strategies and the daily habits they implemented that helped them rebuild their life and move beyond trauma.

Tough Love celebrates human resilience, the amazing strength people display every day to live through what life has put in their path and move forward with courage and integrity.

I'm aware that compared to some of the stories my guests have shared on the podcast mine will seem way less traumatic but I wanted to share it to help mums out there who might be struggling right now, to feel less alone.
We talk about being pregnant during the pandemic, the importance of taking care of yourself as if you mattered, and why when the going gets tough the love of friends and family is what will see you through.

A Wonderful, Insightful, Sensitive Podcast

This is a wonderful, insightful, and sensitive podcast about individual human experiences and human resilience. The interviews are great - real and raw, but also relatable and tinged with hope. A special shoutout to Jemima, who’s an absolute gem! Thank you for your brave, open, and honest interview, and the same goes for every other interviewee.

Extremely valuable and helpful

This is a really great series of podcasts - the real life stories here are very powerful, authentic and brave. Sharing stories like these is so helpful for others to know they are not alone in trying to overcome trauma and the challenges life can present. It also serves as a fantastic insight into how others have moved through the hardest and most traumatic of times to begin to thrive again and live life and live with these often life changing and defining moments. It gives a real sense of hope on how to be resilient and find a way back.... really impactful and I would strongly recommend this podcast.

Life affirming in a funny and very practical way

I have now listened to all three podcasts. I found them great company. Each story is told at a good pace by an authentic, articulate and sometimes hilarious voice. The guests, credit to them, do not shy away from sharing the darkest parts of their experiences. Doing so at a distance of some time, they are able to reflect on the emotional, physical and psychological tools that helped them struggle on. What else is life about?
It’s a tricky thing to discuss surviving and thriving in the context of addiction, loss, divorce or infertility. Federica Leonardis and her guests strike a perfect, delicate balance between empathy, humour and practicality, which anyone with or without experience of these issues will find both engaging and useful.
