    Holy Spirit

    Holy Spirit

In this week’s podcast, I talk about the difference between New Age spiritualism and being led by the Holy Spirit. I explain how reading the Bible on three different levels: literal, metaphorical and metaphysical, can lead to a deeper and more fulfilling understanding of the scriptures and whether we need a transcendent moral reality to keep us from doing wrong.

    Reformation

    Reformation

We are seeing the world reforming in front of our eyes. The question is, do we like what we see? Reformation of any kind causes disruption to the old order as new truths are brought to light.

Covid has been the wake up call for many to finally see how easily we give up our freedom. The next few months will determine our future path.

Will we continue to play it safe and believe the narrative that we are weak and powerless? Or will we make an effort to seek the truth, call out hypocrisy and lies, and take a leap of faith into the new?

We may not be sovereign beings, but we do have  free will.

    Kaleidoscope

    Kaleidoscope

“It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.” Mark Twain

In this week’s podcast I talk about Kaleidoscopic Consciousness; a multi-faceted, everychanging lens that we need to activate whenever we are trying to make sense of something.  It’s only when you have looked at something from multiple perspectives that you can even begin to see the truth. In today’s polarised environment, it’s easy to get caught up in narratives that keep us divided against each other, especially when our emotions are played on by the media.

Yet their sound and light show only gives us a very narrow band of information with which to view the world and spiritual growth depends on expanding that bandwidth so we can see more clearly. We have become so used to accepting overly simplified causes for the problems in the world that actively educating ourselves, so we form our own ideas, seems too effortful and potentially dangerous. If you think for yourself, you now run the risk of being public shamed and attacked, so keeping your mouth shut and following the crowd is more appealing.

Both Joseph Goebbels and Vladimir Lenin expressed the idea that “A lie told often enough becomes the truth.”  This is the hallmark of any totalitarian regime and today’s mainstream media. The only way to see through the lies is to clean your inner windshield of old beliefs and other people’s ideas. Then formulate your own by looking at as many different sources and narratives as you can. Your reward will be clarity and stability, because you will no longer be swayed by popular opinion. You will be able to stand alone, comforted by your efforts to seek the truth that so many are afraid to find.

    Adaptation

    Adaptation

In this week’s podcast I talk about how we can adapt to the limitations being placed on all of us right now, as we surrender to circumstances beyond our control.

The other day I passed a church and the sign outside said, “Worry About Nothing. Pray About Everything.” which is a simpified version of the bible verse from Phillipians (4:6-7). This sentiment is reflected in the modern day saying, “Let Go and Let God.” as we let go of our need to know and our need for control.

This runs counter to how we usually live our lives. Our confidence often comes from taking charge and solving problems, but we are being asked to surrender to forces that are more powerful than us and trust, that like Jonah after the storm, we will be given safe harbour in a new world.

At the end of this podcast I have included the audio from the “New Earth Meditation” I recorded in 2018. Use it before you go to sleep to reduce anxiety and to help you envision a positive future for us all.

    God Bless.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.“

    Ascent

    Ascent

“It is true that spiritual inertia can bring, to certain souls, an illusory sense of peace. But this peace is just as unhealthy as the quiescence of a stagnant pond” Thomas Merton, Ascent to Truth

In this week’s podcast I share a personal mystical experience brought on by reading Thomas Merton’s book, Ascent to Truth. This book illumintates the path towards contemplation and mystical communion. It is the path laid down by the mystic, Saint John of the Cross, who wrote about the dark night of the soul.

Thomas Merton was a paradoxical figure, revered by some and distrusted by others because he took an interest in Eastern Traditions during his life as a Trappist Monk. There are many differences between the teachings of various religions, but the truth of mystical experiences binds them all together. They take us out of ourselves and connect us to an infinite intelligence so vast, we cannot comprehend it consciously. We rely on unsatisfactory concepts of God in an attempt to define the “ground of being”. But how to we access this enormous power and what can we gain?

    Angels & Daemons

    Angels & Daemons

In this week’s podcast I talk about evil and it’s expression in the world. Some say that evil doesn’t exist. Some say the field of psychology can explain why people do evil things. But is that true?

Many people who believe they are spiritual but not religious still turn to the metaphysical world for guidance and protection from negative energy. Angels, spirit guides, mediums and rituals are used by innocent, sometimes desperate, people when they are feeling lost and weakened by life’s trials and tribulations. This over reliance on external guidance can lead to psychic attack that weakens their defences.

If we look at how people drain our energy, we can see how this also happens in a metaphysical sense. We can use the same techniques to repell both types of energy vampires. The only spiritual power that sustains us over time is not power we get through performing rituals and sacrifices, but the kind we generate through ethical conduct, solitude and contemplation. It is the more difficult path. Yet it gives us meaning and a way to see through the storm, whilst delivering us from evil.
