Unfiltered Ep 22 Furmint, Frappato & Bastarda from Fine Wine To Me with Csaba Toth EAT SLEEP WINE REPEAT: A wine podcast

    • Food

We are talking with Csaba, Founder of Fine Wine To Me and Head of Events & Partnerships at Noble Green wines, Hampton Hill. Csaba is all about encouraging people away from the normal grape varieties and to try all the lesser-known varieties of the world. So we are talking Furmint from Hungry (dry and sweet) and how the puttonyos system has changed. Lots of talk on Sicilian grape varieties and regions, focusing on the Frappato grape and lastly the grape variety Bastardo, also known as Merenzao in Galicia, Spain. We get quite passionate about the Galician wine region and varieties, there’s a good discussion about supermarket wine, even how religion and politics have changed the reputation of certain wine regions. A big shout out to Derek, winemaker at Garage wine co. We love your wines so you get a big fat mention. As Csaba is Hungarian, you will also get a mini-lesson on how to pronounce some of the Hungarian grape varieties.

We are drinking Szolo, Parlando, Furmint 2015 Tokaji, Hungry £34, Arianna Occhipinti, Il Frappato 2014, Sicily £29.50 and Fedellos do Couto, Bastarda 2014, Galicia, Spain £33.50 – All from www.finewinetome.com

We were horrendous and did not get this podcast out on time (sorry Csaba!) and so you have now missed his AWESOME wine event. But follow this link you can see any other up and coming events: https://www.finewinetome.com/collections/tasting-events
