Velanche Presents Urban Landscapes – Show 17.02

    Hey; I’m back again!

First of all, if you missed Show 17.01, don’t forget that it’s available online now. I don’t want you to miss it.

If you’ve read the blog post to go along with the last show, you know that my main focus as far as music are music that I’ve been receiving from May 2017 onward. There were loads of great music that I’ve been fortunate to listen, and in some cases played out, between October 2016, when my last show was posted online, and end of April, but I’ve been so incredibly busy, and I don’t have infinite time. Something had to give. I am still a one-man band, so I hope you forgive me for moving onward and forward. With that, the first two shows: the last one and this one, focuses again between May and end of July 2017.

As ever, there is great new music out there to be had, and I’m privileged as ever to share them with you. When I can find the time, I will return to the mike, and share some info on these talented artists when I can.

For now, please enjoy this show. My next one, which will be very soon, will be a full-on club mix, because there are some great nuggets of beats that I don’t wish for you to miss.

There’s more to come, but I will leave it here. Thank you.

    Peace.

    Velanche Presents Urban Landscapes – Show 17.01 (O. M. F. G.)

    Velanche Presents Urban Landscapes – Show 17.01 (O. M. F. G.)

    Hello, Beautiful People.

The last post I’ve done on this site was back in January.

The last show that I’ve made available was back in October 2016.

    For. Shame.

I won’t bother you with all of the goings-on that have been taking place since that period, except that indeed I’ve been very busy with loads of things. Okay really, I’ve been pretty overwhelmed with stuff, and had to decide to pare down some things, let other things wait, and just get to the point where I can get enough space to decide if keeping up with doing this show is worth it, given the challenge of my lack of time.

Ultimately, the answer is yes. I love the new music…most of it, anyway….that comes into my inbox, especially since pulling myself off quite a few promo lists that ultimately did not suit me or the integrity of how I choose the music that I support.

All of this is in tandem with how I want to live my life, going forward. I have done a lot of work to decide on this, but I still have a lot to do. But I enjoy Urban Landscapes, and I enjoy supporting the great labels, artists, and industry professionals who are just as passionate. Oh, and I can’t forget the fans, which apparently I’ve left you in wait. I’m sorry about that.

Another thing that has been taking up some of my time is a DJ collective that I’ve formed here in San Luis Obispo, California called Soul Dust Productions. It consists of many of the town’s most respective DJs and true-blue supporters who are passionate about good music and quality parties. We’ve formed in November 2016, and so far it’s been an awesome experience. It’s been a learning experience leading the charge, and knowing that there’s no way that I could do this on my own, it’s great to earn the trust of the guys and gals flanking our special collective. I’m sure to share more about it in the future. Feel free to add us to keep up with the goings-on via Soul Dust Productions on Facebook, or on Instagram at @souldustpro.

So now, on to the new shows. The plan, and I will do my best to keep up, is to produce at least two shows a month. Some shows will be freestyle and eclectic, and others full-on club mixes, just as my shows have been in recent years. Because of the crazy time schedule, I’ve decided to focus on select music since May of this year, and making the show into two parts. Please check to make sure that you get Shows 17.01, which is this one, and then 17.02, which will follow this one. Again, look for them both so that you don’t miss them.

I’ll have more in the next posting for 17.02. But do please enjoy this edition of Urban Landscapes.

I love you all, and thanks again for your patience and for your support.

    Peace.

    Velanche’s Urban Landscapes Mix 001 – October 2016

    Velanche’s Urban Landscapes Mix 001 – October 2016

    Greetings!

It’s been awhile coming, but here is the first of what I hope will be a number of mixes, in the spirit of my former radio show. I am still inundated with music left and right, and I am getting super, super picky these days, as my time is very compressed. Hopefully, you’ll feel like you’re reaping the rewards by the quality sounds.

At least one mix will be a more eclectic selection, and another will be more of a club mix. I thought that I’d start off with an eclectic, freestyle selection. There was way more that I wanted to put in than I had time for, but there are some incredible albums that you need to check out, and a few of them are represented nicely here.

Hope you dig; back with more soon!

Velanche Presents Urban Landscapes – Show 16.16

Not sure how surprising this news is, but it’s true that, at least for the foreseeable future, this is my last edition of Urban Landscapes.

Stop me, if you heard this before; old news, yes? Sometimes, what I hoe to do, and what actually happens, can collide. It turns out that my current aspiration, music production, takes more time than I’ve been devoting. Preparations for the show also took time to prepare, to do it, and all of the post-production to give it to you, week-after-week.

I can’t say for sure yet if I’ll revisit it, but I know that letting it go is the right thing to do.

And with that, I give you a new show with an uptempo mix that I hope you’ll enjoy…loads of new joints, alongside a few recent favorites to round it all out.

So there you have it. Thank you for listening. Thanks to Hal and the folks at 97.3 The Rock in Morro Bay, California, for giving me a spot to share the incredible music with you. Of course, big ups to the promoters, the artists, the labels, and everyone working hard to keep independent music flowing. Most of all, thanks to all of my listeners…you are terrific. Keep the Urban Landscapes feed burning, and keep you eyes on the blog. I will have mixes, and let you know of other things as they come, perhaps even some music that I’ll share too.

Stay well and good, and again…many thanks!

    Peace.

Velanche Presents Urban Landscapes – Show 16.14

This week has been a hard one for America; cops shooting blacks, cops being shot at…been a bit grueling, to say the least. At the end of this week’s show, I hope that Stevie Wonder can help me put thoughts and words in ways that I cannot.

Also on the show is a musical tribute to Bernie Worrell, an extremely talented music with mad keyboard skills, cultivated over a lifetime. Most may not know him by name, but anyone who’s listened to some of the bad ass synths on the music of Parliament-Funkadelic are sure to have heard of it, as he was a founding member of legendary funk outfit Parliament. If you listen to some of those space-age bass wobbles and grooves, chances are good that they came from his hands. He was one of the first artists embracing the seminal Moog synthesizer, bringing new life to what R&B and funk brought to music. Not only will there be music of Parliament and Funkadelic, but also some of his many collaborations as a studio musician over the years, and also some of his solo work too. I hope that you enjoy this tribute of Bernie Worrell, who passed away just weeks ago.

As ever, thanks very much for listening. I’ll catch you soon with another new show.

    Peace.

Chilled Nu Jazz

Or should that be New Jazz.... with ventures into jazz funk, soul, ambient and ambient dub, but thankfully no dinner jazz. Lots of new music, frequent surprises hosted by Velanche who may or may not be using a vocoder. Perfect lounging, chilled soundtracks.
