Vocal Revolution Episode 4 Dec 2020 The Voice of Celebration with Gill Manly, Jazz Diva & Celebrant

How do we celebrate when our important occasions and rituals - birthdays, weddings, funerals are disrupted by lockdown?   Renowned Jazz Singer and Celebrant Gill Manly will be sharing her top tips and pearls of wisdom on staying courageously creative and celebrating in new ways.

About Gill  - Gill trained as a classical actor in 1979 going on to work in the West End in musicals. In 1983, a chance meeting with some jazz musicians changed her career path that would culminate in her becoming a critically acclaimed Jazz Singer for the next 40 years. She has recorded 5 CDs and worked in all the London clubs including being crowned the Queen of Ronnie Scott’s. Career highlights include Singing for His Holiness the Dali Lama and appearing on stage with Bobby McFerrin at the Royal Festival Hall. During her life she has been a chef, café and conference centre owner, festival curator, radio DJ, composer, playwright, magazine columnist. She has had three commissions for the Croydon Festival of New Theatre “Croydonites”. One of her pieces she co-wrote and performed with Joanna Scanlan. Now due to the COVID-19 difficulties she has retrained as an Independent celebrant. A new vocation that draws on all her wide skills and experiences. Gill believes in the channelling of energy into the creative process and works on an entirely intuitive level to express herself in her work. Find Gill @celebrantandceremony on Socials www.celebrantandceremony.co.uk - website coming soon!
