Watch The Theron: The Charlize Theron Podcast Joey Lewandowski and Mike Manzi

The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be a bit hazy, but what's perfectly clear is that Charlize Theron was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness! Dropped into a credits scene, Charlize takes the role of Clea, who seems to know the titular Doctor Strange very well. Who is she? What role could she play? Why did Marvel use her now? We return to Watch The Theron for a quick episode to catch up on her role in the MCU and how she may be used down the road. We also discuss Charlize's recent history (and near future?) of acting exclusively in established franchises, how her entrance into the MCU is new ground for us, and whether Marvel would have been better served to have saved her casting for the seemingly inevitable reboot of the universe in the next few years. 

Charlize is back! Well, she never left, but Watch The Theron is back for her newest movie: The School for Good and Evil, which is a very, very long movie. It's not made for our demographic, but Charlize is having fun (hooray!), so we try to have some fun, too. We talk about how it feels like The School for Good and Evil is a TV series condensed down to movie length, discuss the complicated adaptation backstory, and admire how good this movie looks and how good the effects are. We also wonder... Will there be sequels? Where did this movie come from? Why aren't the nepo babies of the fairy tale world more defined/dressed? We compare this movie to Snow White and the Huntsman, debate whether or not the title is a spoiler, and preview upcoming episodes of Watch The Theron -- covering both movies we've missed and Charlize's upcoming projects (which are, weirdly, all sequels). Joey explains a Netflix disc "scam." Mike stereotypes witches' names. 

We’re closing out the year with a brand new Charlize Theron movie, Bombshell, and our second episode of Watch The Theron in 2019! We are joined by Cara Gael O’Regan of the Wistful Thinking Podcast to talk about all things Megyn Kelly, Gretchen Carlson, and more. In this episode, we talk about the radical physical transformation (and makeup effects) for Charlize Theron (as well as many of the film’s other actors), the adaptation of a real-life saga, and the movie’s utter determination to not stick to a story or style.
