Ep. 80 How To Rewire Your Brain For Resilience + Success With Professor Steve Peters

Ep. 80 How To Rewire Your Brain For Resilience + Success With Professor Steve Peters

Professor Steve Peters has more Olympic medals and world championships to his name than you can count, with accolades in sports from athletics to football, cycling and snooker. But here’s the catch, he hasn’t ever played these sports professionally. Instead, he’s the ‘brain mechanic’ behind the world’s most successful teams and individuals, from England Football to British Cycling. In fact, Snooker World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan credits Peters with his success.
His advice was incredible, and I can’t wait for you to listen to this one. It is such an honour to have such impressive and intelligent people in my office for this podcast, so I hope you enjoy listening.

Ep. 77 '"F*** Everything I've Ever Been Told": How Katie Lopes Got Over £1.5m Debt To Build Stripe & Stare

Katie Lopes is a woman with resilience. She’s the founder and creative director of sustainable underwear brand Stripe and Stare, but her journey to get there has been anything but smooth sailing.
Katie has faced more than your average setbacks, and today she tells me about the tools she used to overcome £1.5 million in debt, a relationship breakdown and heartbreaking loss, and to come out the other side with a growing company and growing self-confidence.
She says “I didn’t have the confidence in myself until life tested me and I had no choice.” Her story is incredible, and a real testament to the fact that sometimes you just have to put your “big girl pants on” and find your way through.

Ep. 76 Why You’re Struggling With Motivation And How To Fix It With John Amaechi OBE

Ep. 76 Why You’re Struggling With Motivation And How To Fix It With John Amaechi OBE

It is an understatement to say that John Amaechi has had a career that has taken him places.
Not only is he an Organisational Psychologist, an OBE, a New York Times Bestselling Author, a Fellow of the Institute of Science and Technology, a Professor of Leadership, a non-executive director of an FTSE 250 company and the founder of organisational psychology consultancy APS.
He was also, more surprisingly, the first Briton to play professional basketball in the NBA league, a move which saw him leave his hometown of Stockport for the world of professional basketball aged just 18. And whilst playing, he was the first NBA player to come out as gay. Never afraid to stand up and speak out, his book made me question a lot of things I thought I knew about myself and the way I live and work.
Amaechi has spent years studying the world’s highest performers, in both the sporting and corporate world, and I’m so looking forward to everyone hearing his amazing techniques. I learnt so much in this chat and I’m sure you will too. I'd be so grateful if you could rate the podcast five stars.

Ep. 75 Alice Liveing On The Dark Side Of Social Media, Influencing & Diet Culture

Ep. 75 Alice Liveing On The Dark Side Of Social Media, Influencing & Diet Culture

    Trigger warning: eating disorders
I knew Alice Liveing's story was one full of twists and turns, but I did not expect to have such a frank conversation about the power we give 'social media stars' and the impact of toxic trends not just on viewers, but on the individuals perpetuating those trends.
This episode is about Alice's journey to balance, but it's also about the warped reality of social media, and why we shouldn't be too harsh on ourselves about our past actions, something we all need a reminder of every so often.
I hope you enjoy listening! I'd be so grateful if you could rate the podcast five stars.

Good but…

Good info and some great guests but the interview style is incredibly frustrating. I’ve counted over 200 times the word ‘like’ is used, ‘like’ when the interviewer is ‘like’ interviewing ‘like’ and we hear ‘like’ the other persons side ‘like’. It shows lack of intelligence considering the podcast creator has set up a multi million pound empire. Go figure.

the girl who goes to the gym ,

amazing guests, interview style could be improved

please please please could you work on your interview style… you have incredible guests and they’re super interesting people with a lot to learn from and a lot of inspiration to give. You do ask good questions, but you interrupt, give your own opinion, over explain your points, you say ‘whatever it might be’ all the time, you constantly input ‘if it was me’, ‘I’d be like’ or talk about yourself.

The point of an interview podcast is to hear from the guest… you do have interesting things to say and it’s fine to want to input but maybe just do solo episodes on specific topics more often in between episodes with guests so that you can give your own perspective but please let guests speak freely. It’s honestly painful to listen to, I’m so sorry to be so blunt, but it is really hard to listen to, you dominate the conversations but like I said your guests are sooo good and have so much to say!

I would genuinely give your podcast five stars if this improved but currently it’s so hard to listen. I’m so sorry, I don’t want to make you feel bad but thought it would be worth saying so that hopefully you can continue to have such amazing guests and conversations 💞

Poor interview technique

There is so much potential with these guests but the one interview I listened to with Laura Jackson made it clear just how difficult it is to be a great interviewer and to conduct a great interview. Unfortunately when Grace interjects her points are unclear, waffley and full of filler. At points I skipped sections because it felt as though she was going over the same point in order to get the interviewee to agree with her point of view. I didn’t feel the interview had a clear narrative or chronology. I was interested to hear from Laura as she hasn’t been on podcasts recently and has a great perspective as a founder and parent. I didn’t feel the interview got any sort of depth of answer or detail from Laura. I saw some other reviews say that Grace needs to work on her interview style and I would agree with that. Grace is evidently a talented business founder herself so should draw on her experience of this more when speaking to guests.
