    Episode 162: NHL Trades, Flyers Rumors, Stanley Cup Playoffs + MORE

    Derek and Riley start the show by talking about Riley hanging out down the shore and Elvis’ summer tourneys. On a more serious note, they move on to discuss the latest rumors surrounding the Philadelphia Flyers and Ian Laperrière’s "new" extension with the Phantoms. Going around the league they discuss all the recent trades that have gone on this week including Jacob Markstrom headed to the Devils, the Capitals acquiring Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Kings for Darcy Kuemper, and Ty Dellandrea going from Dallas to San Jose. Sticking with the Sharks, Riles and Nasty talk about Barclay Goodrow being claimed off waivers from the Rangers. Some other news around the league they cover includes the Canucks re-signing Filip Hronek and Mark Friedman, Eric Tulsky getting the full time General Manger job with the Carolina Hurricanes, analytics in hockey, Kyle MacLean’s extension with the Islanders, the Columbus Blue Jackets firing Pascal Vincent and Patrik Laine wanting out, and possibly Mitch Marner getting an extension in Toronto.
    The knuckleheads jump over to talk about the Stanley Cup Finals between the Panthers and Oilers, Connor McDavid taking his game to an even higher level, and give their predictions for the rest of the series and give a couple of bets. To end the show, Riley and Derek answer fan submitted questions.

    Episode 161: Sean Couturier | Flyers captain in studio

    Derek and Riley start the show by analyzing the 2-0 lead the Florida Panthers have on the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, Sergei Bobrovsky frustrating the Oilers, and Darnell Nurse’s struggles. They discuss how much more physical the Panthers have played compared to the Oilers, they call for Corey Perry to be back in the lineup, Evan Rodrigues racking up goals, and a couple of questionable hits we’ve seen in games 1 and 2.
    Flyers center Sean Couturier joined the podcast! Coots starts the show by telling us he’s currently rehabbing from offseason surgery. The boys then discuss the Flyers culture shift, the legacy of Ed Snider, and the feel of Snider’s Flyers starting to come back. They also discuss the late season Flyers collapse. Shifting gears they talk about Sean coming into the league at 18 years old in 2011-12 and how fun that season was, starting out as a shutdown defensive specialist, and playing with guys like Jaromir Jagr, Chris Pronger, Danny Briere and others. They move on to remember the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and Coots playing in Team North America. They go on to discuss Coots getting a chance to play in the first line with Giroux and Voracek in 2017, and some of his favorite teammates. Finishing up the interview they discuss Sean becoming Flyers captain this past season, being benched and healthy scratched by coach John Tortorella, the 2020 bubble and playing for Alain Vigneault, and the great player and teammate Wayne Simmonds was.

    Riley and Derek start off the show by discussing the recent Matvei Michkov rumors. They go on to discuss some coaching movement league wide including Craig Berube heading to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sheldon Keefe joining the New Jersey Devils, Jim Hiller having his interim tag removed an officially becoming head coach of the Los Angeles Kings, Rod Brind'Amour receiving an extension with the Carolina Hurricanes. After coach chatter they shift to Ryan McDonagh being traded back to the Tampa Bay Lightning and what that could mean for Steven Stamkos, the OHL suspending Landon Sim of the London Knights, and Rick Tocchet winning the Jack Adams trophy for coach of the year.
    They move on to the Stanley Cup Playoffs starting with the New York Rangers eliminating the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Florida Panthers eliminating the Boston Bruins. Heading on to the Eastern Conference finals they preview the Rangers vs Panthers series.     Riley and Derek start off the show by discussing the Eastern Conference playoffs starting with the New York and Carolina series with the Hurricanes starting to come back and Evgeny Kuznetsov’s resurgence, while Rangers Vincent Trocheck and Alexis Lafrenière have stood out to Nasty. They move over to the Bruins/Panthers series with all the drama surrounding Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett, and the goalie interference calls. Shifting over to the West they discuss Edmonton and Vancouver with Cal Pickard getting a chance and making the most of it for the Oilers, and JT Miller turning things around under Rick Tocchet. Rounding out the West we have the Avalanche and Stars, Tyler Seguin changing his game over time, and Valeri Nichushkin’s recent suspension.
