The Biggest Game 7 In NHL History?

The FAN Morning Show continues into its final hour of the day with the focus remaining on tonight’s Stanley Cup Game 7. Next Ben & Brent check in with former Oilers netminder, now NHL Network analyst Devan Dubnyk for his take on tonight’s game and what he expects from both teams as well as the officiating. DD also offers some insight into what goalies on both sides are thinking heading into this deciding game and who holds the advantage. The Two Best Words in Sports.... Game Seven

The Two Best Words in Sports.... Game Seven

The second hour of The FAN Morning Show has its full focus on Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Hosts Ben Ennis & Brent Gunning talk about the entire series; how it has played out, culminating in a sports’ lovers dream tonight with a deciding game and also how now even non-sports fans have gotten into it and are invested. B&B take some time to look at all involved in the series, who has the most at stake regarding their legacy, win or lose, and what capturing a Cup would mean for both fan bases. After that, the morning duo welcome on their Leafs (and maybe for today hockey) historian, Damien Cox, to put into context how big tonight’s game is. The Star contributor gives his take to the boys about what’s on the line tonight and his main storylines throughout this Final. They look at certain players that are standing out like Zach Hyman and how fans, especially in Toronto, will look at his success since going to Edmonton. They also look at Paul Maurice and if losing this Cup could affect how he is viewed around hockey. The trio also take some time to talk about Lord Stanley possibly coming back to Canada and if it really does anything for hockey in this country. The hour ends as always with the Daily Wake’N’Rake focused on Game 7 in Sunrise, Florida tonight.

Oilers Keep Rolling + Jays Nightmare Season Continues

Oilers Keep Rolling + Jays Nightmare Season Continues

The FAN Morning Show kicks off the week with hosts Ben Ennis and Brent Gunning talking about the Edmonton Oilers doing the unfathomable and pushing the Stanley Cup Final to a Game 7 tonight. The pair discuss the possibility of a reverse sweep by Edmonton, the main storylines ahead of puck drop, and if this could be the greatest collapse in sports history. They ask if this could be a scarring moment for hockey in Florida and if a loss could make them stop caring, whereas a victory for the Oil would elevate Connor McDavid in hockey lore. At the back end of the hour, the morning duo turn their attention to the Blue Jays and their nightmare weekend after getting swept in Cleveland by the Guardians. If that wasn’t bad enough, the duo also weigh in on the news that top prospect Orelvis Martinez was handed an 80-game suspension from MLB after testing positive for a performance enhancing substance.
