Team USA is headed back to the world stage! As we near the opening ceremonies for the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games Paris 2024 and while the world’s excitement is building, the athletes are in full-on training mode! But with more than 605 swimmers expected to take the plunge, how do they prepare physically and mentally to swim laps around the competition? You can find out first-hand!

Team USA and Hershey's LEGEND vs. NEWCOMER Campaign

Jessica Long became the youngest athlete on the U.S. Paralympic Swim Team back in 2004 at just 12 years old! Her teammate, Haven Shepherd, is a newcomer, competing in her first ever Paralympics in 2020 and just missed out on a medal. So, in 2024 she’s looking for redemption.

To celebrate this unique combo and commemorate The Hershey Company’s ongoing partnership with Team USA, Reese’s, known for its legendary combination of chocolate and peanut butter, has launched its first-ever seasonal shape for summer: Reese’s Medals. A jazz musician, Hayes is proud to be endorsed by Yamaha, Vandoren, and Eventide. He has released 10 critically acclaimed CDs including two award-winning family CD’s Jazz-A-Ma-Tazz and Music for a Green Planet, and has performed at festivals and venues throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. As film composer, Hayes has scored more than 70 films, documentaries, commercials, animations, and TV specials.

How to Use Creative Sound Play in the Hudson Valley
The end of the school year in New York is fast approaching, and it can be tricky to keep little ones engaged, focused and productive in the classroom. I had the pleasure to speak with NYC-based educator, author and renowned jazz musician Hayes Greenfield. He has come up with a fun new method that teachers -- and parents! -- can implement that helps kids listen up, engage, and stay on task -- all by using SOUND.

Greenfield is about to release a new book, Creative Sound Play for Young Learners: A Teacher’s Guide to Enhancing Transition Times, Classroom Communities, SEL, and Executive Function Skills. (Routledge, Eye on Education Series, June 2024). Creative Sound Play is an entirely play-based method that gives teachers concrete tools that focus and engage children, by simply making intentional types of sounds–NOT music, in fun, very specific, and deliberate ways. These methods help teachers engage students, and help them with tricky transition times between activities, keeping the day running smoothly.

The new book covers topics such as:
-How Hayes is using SOUND to help teachers have easier days in the classroom
-How parents can use creative sound play at home to make their kids listen better - the first time!
-How creative sound play can engage kids with special needs - even those who are non verbal
-Fun, simple sound activities that teachers can use during the last few weeks of school to keep their students engaged and having fun.
