Today’s episode is a super exciting one because I have the wonderful Michael Grant with me. Egmont Publishing Group invited me to go down to their offices and interview Michael about his trilogy; Front Lines for the podcast, and it was a super exciting day! Michael is the author of around 160 books, some co-written with his wife. These include the Animorphs series, the Gone series, the BZRK series, the Magnificent 12 series, the Messenger of Fear series, and soon Soldier Girl series. He’s on the podcast today to talk about his new series, Front Lines, where he manipulates the story of WW2 and writes the events of what could have happened if women were allowed to fight on the front line alongside men. We also have a bit of a chat about hidden stories from the time of the war, that Michael wants to write about.

Welcome to the Beth’s Bookshelf podcast, hosted on iTunes, Acast, and right here on my blog (otherwise, how would you be here?!) For today’s episode, my guest is Ava Dellaira, which has me fangirling just a bit as we’re discussing her novel; Love Letters to the dead, which I was obsessed with a couple of years ago, when it first came out. Love Letters to the Dead is Ava’s first young adult fiction novel, surrounding themes of death, grief, friendship, and growth. The book follows the protagonist, Laurel, after she loses her sister and begins to write letters to dead celebrities she once admired (such as Kurt Cobain and other famous faces we’ve unfortunately lost) in order to move on. Today, Ava Dellaira is on the podcast with me to discuss her creative routine, how long it takes to write the first draft of your novel, the importance and sentiment behind writing letters, and how to promote yourself as a writer in the age of social media. It was really cool to talk to her and learn about how Ava’s creativity works, and her story of when the novel was first published. I learned some things about Ava and the book that I didn’t know before this episode. I hope it’s helpful to you, too!

Today I’m bringing you the third episode of my podcast, Beth’s Bookshelf. I hope you’ve been enjoying the podcast so far. I’ve really been enjoying experimenting with a new kind of platform and getting to chat with some of my favourite writers! Today’s episode is particularly exciting because my guest is Erin Summerill, author of Ever the Hunted, a 2016 released YA fantasy which sent the internet a little crazy! No matter where I turned on social media, I was seeing cute flat lays and in-depth reviews of this novel, so I bought it. And then I read it in two days, only to find that all the hype was very much deserved!
I asked Erin onto the podcast and she kindly agreed to chat with me about Ever the Hunted and her experience as well as recommending us a few reads to flick through. She’s an incredibly warm person who is lovely to talk to and I think that really shows through in this episode! It’s a fun one

Hi guys! I hope you enjoyed the first episode of Beth’s Bookshelf last week with Danika Stone. I’m really enjoying podcasting! Today, I have L.E Delano (Ellie) on the podcast with me, the author of ‘Traveller’, a much anticipated young adult novel for 2017 published by Swoon Reads. The story surrounds Jessa, a character who, during the novel, finds out she can travel through alternative universes. Ellie is a fantastic author, and a wonderful person to chat to. Especially about writing and literature! In this episode of Beth’s Bookshelf, we got talking about fan fiction, Once Upon a Time (which was the inspiration for her novel), the representation of autism in literature, and how writers can find inspiration to get creative!
