Actor Dennis Quaid joins Martha to discuss taking on the role of President Ronal Reagan in the new movie 'Reagan,' hitting theatres on August 30th. Dennis shares the story of finding out he got the role- waiting months before accepting it due to how important of a job it would be and explains the complex process of understanding President Reagan was like leading up to the film.

At 16 years old, Ronald “Rondo” Scharfe lied about his age to join the military. Though he told his parents he likely wouldn't be sent overseas until he was of age, Rondo found himself shipped off just three months after enlisting -- where he would go on to fight in the Battle of Iwo Jima before most teenagers graduated high school.
 
Martha originally met Rondo on a trip to Iwo Jima while writing her book Unknown Valor, and now the two meet back up in Normandy, France as they commemorate D-Day. Rondo discusses what it feels like to be surrounded by fellow WWII veterans on the 80th anniversary, how what he went through in combat and the loss of his comrades has forever impacted his outlook on life, and what his hopes are for America moving forward.

On this day 80 years ago, more than 160,000 Allied troops were preparing to head into a long-anticipated invasion of Normandy, France -- not knowing that June 6th, 1944 would become one of the most memorable days in history.
 
Today, Martha sits down with 104-year-old WWII veteran Steven Melnikoff on Omaha Beach, where he landed 80 years ago as a 24-year-old soldier with the 29th Infantry Division. Melnikoff recounts what he remembers most clearly from that day and those that followed -- from being wounded in battle to witnessing countless acts of bravery.
