In tonight's edition: Former South African president Jacob Zuma has been barred from standing in next week's election, after the country's top court disqualified him over a previous criminal conviction. Also, reactions flow in after Sunday's attempted coup in DR Congo, which saw three people killed near the presidential palace. And we follow the world's first professional female kora player, Sona Jobarteh, who's shaking up old traditions. 

In tonight's edition: Ousmane Sonko slams the French military presence in Senegal, saying that the foreign military bases are incompatible with the country's sovereignty. Also, South Sudan’s government and rebel groups sign a peace deal to end the war. Finally we talk to the star Nigerian singer Yemi Alade as the Afro pop Femua festival kicks off in Ivory Coast.

In tonight's edition: RSF paramilitary fighters ramp up attacks on the flashpoint Sudanese city of al-Fashir, which is already reeling from war casualties. Meanwhile, South Africa is reopening inquests into the deaths of three prominent anti- apartheid activists.  And Tunisian Boxer Khouloud Al-Halimi is training hard for her second Olympics and has big dreams for Paris 2024. 

In tonight's edition: Lawyers take to the streets of Tunisia's capital, protesting the arrest of lawyer and TV pundit Sonia Dahmani, a known critic of President Kais Saied. Also, thousands of families have been displaced in Burundi after recent flooding caused by heavy rainfall. Finally we look at the upcoming South African elections where the uncompromising Patriotic Alliance party is looking to make a dent as it gains ground in Western Cape. 

Mahamat Idriss Deby says he will serve all Chadians after winning this week's presidential election, but top rival Succès Masra is contesting the result and says he's the winner. Meanwhile in Ivory Coast, Laurent Gbagbo's return is confirmed with his nomination his PPA-CI party as a candidate for the 2025 presidential election. And breakdance will make its Olympic Games debut and a South African dancer is chasing her dream to compete in Paris. 

In tonight's edition: In a harrowing investigation, Human Rights Watch has collected stories of survivors in Darfur who faced systematic execution, persecution and abuse by the RSF paramilitary.
