An extensive overgrowth of albizia trees is to blame for recent power outages in East Honolulu, the Hawaiian Electric Company said Thursday. HECO said helicopter inspections revealed that the albizia trees have been choking up critical transmission line corridors along the base of the Koolau mountains.
