If you're serious about levelling up your life it's time to drop those sneaky habits and patterns that have held you back. What got you here won’t get you there. You must be willing to look at yourself through a magnifying glass and face the truth.
Last year, I noticed some recurring patterns. After my divorce, I decided to start dating again. But I quickly fell into old habits: meeting men, sleeping with them instantly, and wondering why nothing progressed. I had to confront myself and realize I was seeking external validation because I felt unfulfilled.
The first step was to decenter men and focus on my own soul. I decided to be consciously single and validate myself. It’s the small things that count. For example, while on the treadmill at the gym, I caught myself wondering if a guy was looking at me. I stopped and thought, “Bitch, you need to look at yourself.” That moment was a domino effect leading me to appreciate and pour energy into myself.
This shift transformed my business and my life. I'm no longer seeking external validation, and I converse with men confidently without needing anything from them. I’m more self-assured and fulfilled, knowing that what I want will come to me when I’m ready. This transformation wouldn't have happened if I hadn’t been willing to examine myself deeply and change those ingrained patterns.
Another significant change was cutting out alcohol. I realized I was drinking more than I wanted to, so I stopped. Now, I feel liberated, full of energy, and healthier than ever at 53.
Star Monroe, esteemed Psychotherapist and Confidence Catalyst, guides highly successful women over 50 who demand more from themselves and life, providing the support and guidance they need to uncover insights they can’t see on their own and transform into unapologetically confident women who know their worth and always get what they want.
