NOTA BENE: This Week in the Art World Benjamin Godsill & Nate Freeman
-
- Arts
NOTA BENE is the podcast version of a boozy lunch at Sant Ambroeus in which adviser Benjamin Godsill and Vanity Fair art columnist Nate Freeman dish fresh art world gossip from Dimes Square to Mayfair, peel back the curtain on auctions, galleries and fairs—and, critically, tell you where to eat and drink in every museum-stuffed port of call. Plus there’s a special guest each week, and we’ll roast them good regardless of how much clout they carry on the circuit. It’s NOTA BENE. Don’t close the deal until you tune in. Mega Auction Preview with Lock
We are back with our biannual mega-episode exploring the major auction season in New York. As always for these in-depth looks we are joined by market expert, our friend Lock Kresler .
Lock is a true subject matter expert and we get into all the lots, their consignors and what to expect as the three main houses gear up for their main spring sales week in new york. In the light of art market headwinds there is a ton at stake and we get into it all in this 1+ hour long episode.
You won't want to raise your paddle until you have listened to this episode.
Note that much like our friends in Rock Center we experienced some minor technical difficulties that are distracting but (hopefully) not rehabilitating. But hey, its a free podcast and at least we can say with confidence that none of your personal information was put at risk.

La Dolce Vita with special guest Antonio Sersale.
Nate and Benjamin report on their last night on the canals and their harrowing evacuation from Venice. Have no fear though, the gents landed high and dry. This episode finds them reporting live from Positano where they are in residence at Le Sirenuse, probably the most magical hotel in the world. They find themselves ashore here to celebrate and inaugurate a magnificent tile mosaic the artist Nicolas Party has blessed the hotel's pool with.
In the second half of the pod the boys are joined by Antonio Sersale, hotel owner and quite likley the best host in the world. Antonio briefs us on the history of the hotel, what it takes to be a great host and the genisis of their fantastic contemporary art collaborations and collection.
This is truely and episode of THE ONLY ART PODCAST that you won't want to miss.

They are then joined by curator Alison Gingeras to discuss the Eddie Martinez exhibition she organized for the San Marino pavilion of the 2024 Venice Biennale.
