Councillors in Durban's northern parts impacted by Monday’s storm say over a thousand residents had to be moved to community halls. Five people lost their lives and dozens were also injured. And there's been extensive damage to water and electricity infrastructure, which has left some communities in the dark. Weather forecasters confirmed that a tornado tore through Tongaat and Ballito.
