    Empowered People... Empower People!

    Empowered People... Empower People!

Join us and our guest Devanie Adams as we talk about the humble beginnings of Adams & Co. and how a major failure opened the windows and rocketed the whole company to where and who it is now. In this episode, Devanie sits in her car and shares to us what it was like to take the risks she and her husband took in order to follow that fire they felt burning inside. There’s a lot to takeaway so tune in with us!

In this episode you will learn:

Beginning from two totally different fields: How Adams & Co. Started

What gave them the fuel to jump on to the next thing?

What “wearing every hat” means for startup businesses.

The force of women fostered in the culture of respect.

It’s important to know that thing that you want.

    About Devanie Adams:

Many of you are new friends so here is a little bit of our story. DJ & I first started Adams & Co. Home & Holiday Decor in our garage in 2003, making wooden signs, blocks and shelves. Originally, we attended local craft fairs and sold to our neighbors and friends. After a few months, we really enjoyed working together and with DJ’s entrepreneurialism, we started wholesaling to retailers. As many of you know, owning a business is a lot of work and being a startup, even more! Often, we put in 20+ hours a day trading off who would sleep, take care of kids, etc. I designed samples and DJ would take them to stores around our home state of Utah to get orders. After several months of doing this we grew to the point we could no longer produce, design, sell and deliver our decor ourselves so we turned to outsourcing production allowing us to focus on what we do best. Our children, relatives, and friends have been a part of our company from the beginning and we are thrilled to be entering our 15th year this upcoming January!

We work on a simple philosophy…Inspired by Life. We hope you will see this in our designs, whether it is through life’s everyday happenings, milestones and even the difficult times. Our purpose is to make you laugh, reassure, inspire, touch your heart, or feel close to a loved one lost along the way. Today, the A&C brand is sold in thousands of retailers across the USA & Canada and online at KrumpetsHome. We have made many lifelong friends in the home decor industry. DJ & I love our ‘Adams Family’ team and without them none of this would be possible. They are our biggest supporters and we feel grateful daily we get to work and play with these outstanding individuals.

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy, Be Kind to Yourself

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy, Be Kind to Yourself

Join us and our guest Kelly Ballard as we talk about her journey as a woman in her 40’s and how she got into the busy life she’s in right now. Kelly believes that some women are guilty of wanting to be someone else aside from being a mother, a guilt they should let go. She shares how, for her, it’s the first step for every parent who wants to find balance in their family life and their own thing. Tune in with us and there will be so much more to learn.

In this episode you will learn:

Reinventing yourself and figuring it out as you go.

Doing what you do – Purpose and fulfillment.

The spirit of collaboration in the DIY business industry.

Finding the balance in life, motherhood, and passion. How?

Maintaining respect and privacy even as a public figure.

    About Kelly Ballard:

Raised in California and transplanted to Utah. Married my college sweetheart from Montana, and we are raising 4 nuggets together. I love all things DIY projects and doing them on a budget. I don’t mind messing up and am ok with the 90/10 rule - nothing is perfect over here and its fine by me! Encouraging all ‘wanna-be’ DIYers to just get out there and try it! You will be so glad you did.”

I have always loved using my creative side to come up with ways to decorate my space. Even as a little girl I was finding ideas by window shopping at Mervyns or page turning the JCPenny catalogue. That followed me into my college and young married days. I had to get very creative as a young mother on a tight budget, and my love of DIY projects was born. I would shop all the local thrift stores and see how I could turn something old into something new. I taught myself how to stain, paint, craft, glue and sew. These hobbies kept my mind fresh and my hands busy.

At age 40 I found myself wondering how to spend my newly found time when all the kids were at school. I had always wanted to build things, but tools made me nervous. So that very birthday (per my request), Mr. Farmboy picked up some takeout and then sat me down to teach me how to use a nail gun - exactly what I wanted. From that day on I was hooked. I committed to a project a week for the year I was 40. I slowly started to document these projects, and CITYGIRLMEETSFARMBOY was born.

    Finding Your Tribe

    Finding Your Tribe

Join Angie and Carrie as they drive and talk away the experience they were able to share with a group of women on building brand and business online. In this episode, Angie and Carrie also heartily explain why the genuine initiative to connect and nourish relationships is really important today more than any time in order to continue building up goals and people. This whole talk will all be about the people we have in our lives and the connections behind; all of those and more as you stay tuned in.

In this episode you will learn:

A Retreat with 27 Women: The power of a community.

The different people in our lives and their roles on our goals.

Knowing your own tribe by heart and knowing who you can call – anytime.

How real relationships take investment and commitment to flourish.

A Community starts with you: Reach out, connect, and care.

    About Finding Her Way Podcast:

Angie and Carrie were coming from two different points of their lives with different experiences. Angie has been in the field of design for years and has built herself a successful design business. While Carrie, did her own thing in the world of fitness and online business. Their friendship began from what, at first, was a mere designer-to-client relationship. Carrie moved to a new city and Angie was her home’s designer. From there, the many shared stories lead them to where they are now.

After spending a lot of years in an industry far from her own hobbies and the things that she loves, aside from her kids, Carrie started to feel she didn’t have any friends and didn’t belong to anything, like she was lost all of a sudden. In her 40’s, she found herself asking questions like: “why am I still at this point?” Carrie needed something she can grab on to and give her a different energy. Soon enough, she met Angie.

Angie, as a designer believed that more than the patterns and the colors, who the people are mattered the most when clothing a home. For her, the client’s motivation and passion is crucial. Aside from her career in interior designing, still, the realities of her own life continued to play. Angie went through a divorce, was a single mother, and had breast cancer. And despite the odds she persevered, Angie looked at the mirror and had her pivotal moment. She knew she had to move and do changes.

On their way back from Angie’s chemotherapy, Carrie was amused at how despite Angie was having so much of life altogether still managed the energy to focus on and finish the work of being an interior designer. Carrie and Angie shared an honest conversation so deeply on their own pivotal stories. They have answered why it is a need to listen to other people’s stories and agreed that each and every one, like them, had their stories that can inspire and that each doesn’t have just one.
