Real Estate Finder Matthew Maschler

This week Staci Garcia and Matthew Maschler are thrilled to host Tim Snow and Jay Brandt of The George Snow Scholarship Fund to the Real Estate Finder Podcast.
 
Tim tells us about growing up in Boca Raton, with his father George who was a real estate developer and teacher.  We discuss Boca Raton real estate and reveal that Tim used to live in the very neighborhood Staci now lives in, and that I have a closing this week in.
 
We talk about the great work done by the The George Snow Scholarship Fund, and how it has awarded 375 scholarships to its scholars this year.  What types of students receive these scholarships, and other benefits aside from tuition payments come from being a Snow Scholar.  And what the process for applications looks like.

The George Snow Scholarship Fund is dedicated to helping deserving students in Palm Beach County achieve their career goals through their pursuit of higher education. By providing financial assistance and a host of supplementary support services, they ensure that hundreds of scholarship recipients have the resources they need to thrive academically.

Tim Snow has resided in Boca Raton since 1958 when his family relocated to Boca Raton from Western Pennsylvania. He attended and graduated from Boca Raton High School in 1974 followed by his graduation from Marion Military Institute in Alabama. Under Tim’s leadership, the George Snow Scholarship Fund has been recognized as one of the most respected non-profit organizations in South Florida. Tim’s vision for the Fund included not only providing scholarships but also the development of scholar support programs and services created to ensure the success of the scholars including pre-college physicals, laptops for each scholar and a high school to college transition program.

Jay joined the George Snow Scholarship Fund as the Vice President of Development in January of 2023, after a successful showing at Boca’s Ballroom Battle. Previously, Jay was the Executive Director at St. Jude Catholic Church & School in Boca Raton. He oversaw all development, marketing and personnel for the church, as well as development for the school.
Prior to St. Jude, Jay worked at Lynn University as the Director of Major Gifts for 15 years.
Jay moved to Florida from Michigan in 1992 and attended St. John Paul II Academy. He then followed his dream of playing college baseball and attended Lynn University, where he received his Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration.

It is June and that means Father’s Day, Graduations and Juneteenth Celebrations. And you can not close on a house on June 19th! If I did not say it clearly enough, make sure you do not write a contract that calls for a closing on that day. And in 2027 when it falls on a Saturday, do not schedule a closing for the Friday before, when it will be observed on June 18th!
And how about those Florida Panthers? Up 3-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals when we recorded this. Go Cats!
Back to real estate please, we discuss updating the MLS once an offer is fully executed and becomes a binding contract. There is nothing worse than trying to show a house that shows Active in the MLS, only to be told it is under contract. What about bringing a Buyer for a back up when you know it is under contract? Find out!
Speaking of the MLS, in 2 months time, the MLS will no longer be able to display the incentive offered to a Buyer’s agent from the Listing agent for bringing the Buyer.

Recently I have decided that it was important to grow the audience of this podcast and thanks to PodPopuli Podcast Studio, we met Kelli Brink, Director of Podcast Growth Strategy.
It was nice to meet her in person, live on the Real Estate Finder Podcast.
We talk about social media, and how she came to be the Producer of this the Real Estate Finder Podcast.
And of course we talk about Real Estate.  Remember that home we staged that I believe received a premium in the price because we staged it with Big Style Staging (what Episode was that)?  Well, the Buyer walked AFTER the staged furniture was removed.  UGH, listed it again and found a new Buyer, without the premium.  Still, it was a good flip.  Who is next?

This week we are joined in the studio by Staci’s son Reese.  Reese just got his state real estate license and joined the team at Signature Real Estate Finder. 
 
We talk about taking the real estate class online. His experience taking the exam.  And his future career as a Realtor. 
 
Jill and I represent a buyer for a house in Sabal Lake in Boca West, which is where Staci lived when she was in High School, so we talked about Sabal Lake and Reese’s grandmother.  I forgot to mention her collection of floor plans for every model of home in Boca West. 
 
Born in 2004, at 19 years old Reese is the youngest real estate agent on Team Awesome. But with support from Signature and his mom, we expect great
