“Let’s Build What Would Have Saved Me”

How one young entrepreneur went from living in his parents’ house $170K in debt to being one of the driving forces behind an international company with 400+ staff.

The road to success for startup founders has many speed bumps, we know we will find our own challenges along the path to success BUT if there is one thing we can do to make our lives easier on this path it’s NOT going through the obstacles that are avoidable….and taking note of the short-cuts and power-moves that others swear by.

‘Success leaves clues’ as the saying goes.

Invest some time today to listen to Simon Phillips’ incredible story.

He doesn’t just leave clues, he spells success out in black and white.

Simon was a high performing, successful young dickhead (his own words) who went from being a socially awkward and anxious Palmerston North teen to living a life of wealth and notoriety via his first startup, Fitwear. A millionaire at 23, he then hit rock-bottom and was forced to move back into his parent’s house.

Despite being $170,000 in debt and with a badly bruised ego, Simon decided to learn from his mistakes and give success another crack.

Now co-founder of The Magnitude Group, in a few short years Simon (“Simmo”) grew from a team of 5 to over 485!! He did this by building a thriving digital marketing agency for ecommerce brands (initially taking compensation via profit-share) and then mixing that with a global supply chain logistics company. The magnitude group now owns warehouses in New Zealand, Utah, and Amsterdam with Canadian and Japanese warehouses opening soon plus plans in place to expand into the Uk and Taiwan.

And the big organising idea behind it all was;

“Let’s build what would have saved me.”

Here are some of our favourite quotes from the comprehensive interview;

“There were all these external things overlaid on an internally agitated soul.”

“I feel like my game has been about being able to better control my subconscious.”

“If you own a brand- you focus on the brand, you focus on the product, you focus on the community - we wanted to build a platform that all of that could exist.”

“Physical performance, mental clarity, emotional stability. Those are the three resources that if you can control in a really powerful fashion you’ll be able to achieve financial freedom. And then when you put all those things together, then you have a shot at spiritual fulfillment…. which is the ultimate goal.”

” I spend a lot of time visualising where I will be”

“The Simmo thing is a culmination of many people and a little bit of me “

“If you have those three attributes - physically powerful body, clear mind and emotional stability...PLUS the internet AND you live in New Zealand...if you can’t create financial freedom...then go back to f****n’ square one because one of those things is broken”

“Find mentors organically and deliver more value”

“There is a relationship out there for everyone where you can deliver mutual value without cash and both get where you want to go faster.”

We hope that you enjoy listening to this interview as much as I enjoyed recording it!
