OUTBRK: Storm chasing video game early access launch [Ep. 495]

OUTBRK: Storm chasing video game early access launch [Ep. 495]

Years in the making, the "OUTBRK: Storm chasing simulator" video came for the computer is nearly here.

On Friday, June 28, 2024, the long-awaited online, multiple-player game will become available in "early access" on the Steam gaming platform. This will allow those who choose, the option to purchase the game and play the game while it remains in ongoing development. (Those who buy an early access game on Steam will receive, without further costs, ongoing updates as improvements are made and will receive a copy of the final game upon release.)

David Daigle-Carignan and Marc Remillard are the developers of OUTBRK. They returned to the Carolina Weather Group to discuss expectations for the June 28 early release date.

Over the past few years, they have developed a virtual, open-world that simulates real-world weather data from historic weather events. They created never-before-used technology and techniques to bring this weather to life.

Their goal is to create a storm-chasing game that is both fun and safe.

OUTBRK, which began as an early fundraiser on Kickstarter, can now be added to Wishlists on Steam, the platforming for PC gaming: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1107320/OUTBRK/

Why South Carolina buildings are more hurricane-ready than North Carolina [Ep. 492]

Why South Carolina buildings are more hurricane-ready than North Carolina [Ep. 492]

    #weather #northcarolina #southcarolina #hurricane #severeweather

See why IBHS is expressing serious concerns about North Carolina's building codes when it comes to hurricane readiness -- and why South Carolina continues to hold strong.

With the traditional start of hurricane season just weeks away, the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) has released its Rating the States which report evaluates the 18 states along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, all vulnerable to catastrophic hurricanes, based on building code adoption, enforcement, and contractor licensing. In the report, published every three years, each state is rated on a 0–100 scale using data from responses to groups of questions related to different aspects of their building code programs.
