19: Shailene Panylo on Black Lives Matter, organizing the Oshawa protest, and creating an anti-racist future Learn With Lels

Hello everyone, and thanks for tuning in to episode 19 of the Learn With Lels podcast!

In this episode, I spoke with Shailene Panylo, who is an Oshawa resident, community leader, and the organizer of the Oshawa Black Lives Matter protest that happened last month.

In our conversation, we talked about:
- the Black Lives Matter movement;
- what planning the Oshawa protest was like and how it went;
- how her experience with racism growing up has impacted her efforts and the changes she’s working toward;
- the importance of taking care of your energy when doing anti-racism work; and
- what people can do if they want to get involved.

We covered some big and important topics in our conversation, and I really appreciate Shailene for taking the time to talk with me and to spread some knowledge that I hope will be helpful for people.

I also feel the need to point out that there’s so much great information out there about BLM, anti-racism, and allyship, so if you don’t know what to do or if you don’t understand something, I encourage you to look it up. There’s much out there, and I hope that aside from listening to this, that we all continue to learn and unlearn and use our voices and get involved wherever we can!
