    Season 3 Episode 29: Aniekan and Aniebiet Okon

    Two twin brothers from Rhode Island and alumni of the University of Rhode Island graduating with a degree in Sports Media Communications, Aniekan and Aniebiet Okon join the show this week to talk about their similar, but yet, different sports journeys.



    Aniekan is a Sports Anchor/Reporter for CBS19 News in Charlottesville, Virginia. On the other hand, Aniebiet is an Assistant Director of Graphic Design for West Virginia University Athletics.



    After graduating, the two got their first job opportunity in the sports market just one month apart, but the process to getting their was longer then they expected. Tune into this week’s episode to hear all about Aniekan and Aniebiet’s sports career paths.

    Season 3 Episode 28: Sean McKeon; Dallas Cowboys Tight End

    Sean McKeon is in his fourth season with the Dallas Cowboys after playing four years at Michigan.



    He talks in this interview about growing up in Massachusetts, being a two sport athlete in football and baseball, and how he decided to stick with football when the college recruiters started to come around.



    Sean talks a lot about some of his most memorable moments so far in the NFL. In 2021, he recorded his first career touchdown on Thanksgiving versus the Raiders. Sean registered his first NFL reception while playing against his former High School teammate, Chris Lindstrom and the Atlanta Falcons.

    Season 3 Episode 27: Eric Reid; Miami Heat TV Play-by-Play Broadcaster

    (via nba.com) Eric Reid is an original member of the Miami HEAT. He enters his 35th season of calling the action for the HEAT and is among the longest tenured broadcasters in the NBA.



    Reid has broadcast 2,472 regular season HEAT games during the franchise’s first 34 seasons, having joined the organization just prior to the team’s inaugural season in 1988-89. This season is his 46th consecutive year broadcasting basketball and his 32nd doing the play-by-play for the HEAT. Three times during his career (2017, 2018 and 2020) Reid has been named the Florida Sportscaster of the Year in voting done by his peers in the National Sports Media Association. Since 2005, Reid has won 20 regional Emmy Awards, including three for his play-by-play work in 2013, 2014 and 2015.



    Reid also spent six seasons as the voice of the Providence Friars over the radio, including the team’s 1987 run to the Final Four.

    Season 3 Episode 26: Nick Cardi; ESPN Radio Production Assistant

    A New York native and a Rhode Island alum, Nick Cardi, joins Cam’s Corner this week to talk all about his career with ESPN.



    Nick received the opportunity to work as a Radio Production Assistant with ESPN in November of 2021.



    Nick was also a graduate from the University of Rhode Island in 2020. This made the job search and hiring process much more difficult for someone like Nick in the sports industry. The process of getting hired took about a year after graduating.



    Through all the adversity he has had to face throughout his journey, Nick is now going on 3 years strong with the best sports outlet in the world. Tune into this week’s episode to hear all about Nick’s journey and everything he has been able to experience at such a young age!

    Cole Swider, a Portsmouth Rhode Island native, joins Cam’s Corner this week ! Cole is in his 2nd season in the NBA and his first with the Miami Heat



    Shortly after going undrafted in the 2023, Cole got a call from the Los Angeles Lakers and would go on to sign a two way deal to start his NBA career.



    He talks highly about the NBA vets he has been able to play around early on in his career such as LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, and Kevin Love, to name a few.

    Season 3 Episode 24: Keith Labelle; Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Outreach, Education & Training at The University of Rhode Island

    Keith Labelle, a South Dartmouth native, is a former Division 1 baseball player at The University of Rhode Island. After graduating, Keith was unsure of the path he was going to take. Playing at the pro level was always his dream and playing around some athletes who went pro at his former school, he wanted to do the same.



    However, once Keith realized this path was not going to be for him, he decided to take the free year of grad school the university offered him with the programs he was involved in.



    This opportunity opened the door for Keith to soon become an active public speaker and educator in sexual assault and domestic violence and sports media communications. Tune into this week’s episode of Cam’s Corner to hear all about Keith’s journey.
