Awesome as always!
Jessica, hello from Hong Kong and thank you for your presence in YouTube channel last night. I used to think I’m a fairly good English user/speaker. It’s not until I knew that I need to have an all band 8 in IELTS that I realise there’s always room for improving the English! That’s how your channel and podcasts have now come to my life before I need that IELTS result in one year’s time. Thank you for the plentiful and resourceful information out there.
Long story short: I have a question that often bothers me:
For the sake of impressing examiners, I often try to use flowery sentence structures, but at times doing so makes my essay look a bit “affected”, and (as it becomes a little difficult to follow) the message intended is not delivered clearly. Any suggestion to avoid such a problem?
Should I start timing myself in writing essay now, or should I make myself comfortable with how to write a good IELTS essay first before timing myself?
Thanks, and you guys are truly awesome.
Josh
