They proudly serve as Co-Artistic Director of Thrive Choir, a diverse group of vocalists, artists, activists, educators, healers, and community organizers who join together in big harmony. They are also a member of the City of Refuge UCC Praise Ensemble, a radically inclusive ministry of restoration based in Oakland, CA.

Taylor Houchens is a psychotherapist and electronic music producer based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As a therapist, he specializes in helping men overcome and transmute their trauma using modalities like Somatic Experiencing and Attachment Focused EMDR. Taylor also holds weekly men’s circles and workshops with the intention to bring rise to the healthy masculine man through brotherhood. Outside his healing work, Taylor is an avid drummer and electronic music lover. He has just started producing house music in his studio at home, and his music can be found on Soundcloud and Spotify.

Brian was born in Sacramento California and was educated in the Bay Area, receiving his bachelors degree in Humanistic, Existential, and Transpersonal Psychology from Sonoma State and his Masters degree in Spiritually Oriented Psychotherapy from The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia) in Palo Alto.

Brian is a trained Hatha and Vinyassa yoga instructor and was educated as a Kundalini yoga teacher. He co-developed and launched a Montessori middle school program in Holly Springs where he taught original science, history and humanities curriculums for adolescents.

Brian plays in the post folk band Brother Brian and The One Man Band and has a private psychological and spiritual consultation practice where he helps people rapidly develop personal sovereignty and inner freedom.

When Brian is not teaching young people, making music, or providing psycho-spiritual support, he enjoys interviewing and writing about local artists in North Carolina. His artist portraits have been well received by both artists and community members and is known for his deep dives into finding the meaning in creative process.

Brian is super excited to interview artists and in this podcast, he shares his excitement with us, as well as shares theories on reality.

Kim has always had a close relationship to earth. She started gardening with her father when she was old enough to drop corn seeds into the trough as he hoed. She and her husband have vegetable gardens, flower gardens and 8 chickens. Aware of climate change since before she can remember, she thought the government would need to take care of the problem. Immediately after the 2016 national election, she realized that the US government wouldn’t be taking any action at all. She decided that she personally must do everything she could to limit the climate crisis.

So Kim retired her business as an independent jewelry appraiser last year. She is a homemaker, turned jewelry appraiser, turned climate activist. She trained with Al Gore twice, the first time in October, 2017. Then recently in August in Minneapolis. Her mission is to work with others to limit the climate crisis. Kim is honored to serve on the Orange County Commission for the Environment and the Orange County Planning Board. She feels that her most important work is Chair of Climate Reality, Orange County Chapter, and speaking to others about the climate crisis.
