    Have you ever considered getting a health coach, but you worry about the time you need to put in or the financial investment?
     
    Learning new skills takes time, effort, and focus. Sometimes, the adventure of weight loss doesn’t feel very positive or inspiring. But, do not worry! Sometimes, you just need a health coach to push you in the right direction.     Today, I had the absolute mind-blowing pleasure of speaking with Ralph Sanchez (MTCM, CNS)  who spent 25 years as a functional medicine specialist and complementary care provider. After discovering his own risk factors associated with Alzheimer's disease, Ralph has spent the greater part of his career focused on researching the connection between Alzheimer’s disease and your body and health, including both diabetes and heart disease. He believes that mind and body are connected, and that your diet, health, and lifestyle can help increase or decrease  your risk for Alzheimer’s disease in many ways-- some that you may not expect!     Did you know that it is estimated that as much as 15% of American adults suffer from some form of smell or taste disorder, and that your ability to taste flavor shifts as you get older?
    In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Banay Dara Abrams, a woman in technology with a  passion to use technology in order to help improve the health and overall quality of life for others. Using her doctorate in Computer Science, her MA in Counselling, and coursework in gerontology, flavor chemistry, and food science, Dr. Abrams hopes to help people understand the impact that their perception of flavor can have on their diet as well as how factors like aging, sensory dysfunction, and overall health can change their relationship with flavor and food. Our eating habits and food choices are heavily impacted by our relationship, ability to sense and detect, and our understanding of flavor. Listen as Dr. Abrams discusses aging, four different taste disorders that can impact your diet and healthy lifestyle choices, and finally, solutions to enhance your relationship with food and flavor, leading to a healthy diet and lifestyle!
