    NASA Ames visitor center to re-open; Regulators give Waymo green light

    The NASA Ames Visitor Center is set to re-open this weekend at Oakland’s Chabot Space and Science Center.

    The road is opening up for Waymo after regulators gave the green light to the company's expansion plans. KCBS' Nikki Medoro has details.

    Between March and May, the San Francisco Department of Public Health's new nighttime telehealth program conducted about 440 in-the-field nighttime visits for people who use fentanyl and other opioids.

    Another win for Waymo, as the autonomous car company gets to expand into two more California counties.  

    After 18 months in jail, the doctor accused of driving his Tesla off a cliff in San Mateo County with his family in the car may be released.

    State regulators have denied AT&T's request to terminate service for some 700,000 Californians.

    The San Francisco Giants game at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama is now in the books.

    The fallout continues from yesterday's FBI raids of the home of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, as well as the residences and offices of a politically-connected Oakland family.

    KCBS Radio also dives into the family that runs California Waste Solutions, which holds a major city contract in Oakland for curbside recycling.

    Oakland undergoes FBI raids, BART repairs and delays, and a mass shooting

    The FBI and the U-S Postal Service today (Thursday) carried out raids at the homes and offices of several Oakland city leaders, including Mayor Sheng Thao.

    Around 50 bullet casings were found on the scene of a brawl, at a Juneteenth party at Lake Merritt last night (Wednesday).

    This weekend, BART crews will kick off a series of repair projects aimed at replacing a series of interlockings between Rockridge, MacArthur, and 19th Street stations in Oakland.

    Oakland Mayor recall; Point Fire being contained; Juneteenth celebrated in SJ

    Organizers of a recall campaign against Oakland's mayor are celebrating today. 

    Sonoma County Sheriff's official this evening lifted all evacuation orders for those driven from their homes by the 1,200 acre Point Fire.

    San Francisco’s beloved Bob’s Donuts has been a mainstay on Polk Street since the 1950’s, but the shop is preparing for a big, or not so big, move.

    Juneteenth celebrations were underway in San Jose today and, for kids, it's a chance to learn about the holiday while also making some music along the way.

    Fans pay tribute to Willie Mays at Oracle Park; Point Fire is 50% contained

    The Willie Mays statue in front of Oracle Park in San Francisco has become an impromptu memorial, with fans turning up to leave flowers, notes,  baseballs, and memories. 

    New numbers are showing the summer COVID surge has begun, pointing to the strong suggestion that people get the latest vaccine. 

    Calfire is reporting the Point Fire in Sonoma County is now 50% contained, and good weather overnight has helped firefighters get a handle on this blaze, which has, so far, destroyed two homes.

    The Alameda County Registrar of Voters says the recall effort against Mayor Sheng Thao has enough verified signatures from registered Oakland voters. 

    A recent United Way of California study has found that many households aren’t able to make ends meet and one Bay Area congressman has a plan to take some of those burdens off of families' shoulders.
