    Ketoloco Podcast 010: BUCKLEY

    Ketoloco Podcast 010: BUCKLEY

Buckley regularly frequented the Ketoloco basement back in the early Headingley days and also played arguably the most memorable set; a 3 hour acid house-a-thon. Obviously having the man who's held down residencies at The Hacienda, Renaissance (in early days), We Love in Ibiza, BackToBasics and more recently Just Jack, spinning in our student basement was quite a hedonistic experience. From that point on Buckley has been a regular at our parties and a firm Ketoloco favorite.

We thought it fitting, then, to invite him to contribute to our podcast series. This mix is what Buckley is all about; no fucking around, straight-up house music, mixed with his trademark flow and prowess. There's plenty of fresh house cuts, including some of his own on-point productions, and some older favorites. With an imminent EP due for release on Hot Creations, if you don't know Buckley by now you definitely should. Fill ya boots.

Oh and Buckley will feature next month at The Light Bar on Sunday 3rd June alongside Chez Damier, Underground Paris and his studio bud Denney. Watch this space for deets!

    Ketoloco Podcast 009: SASSE

    Ketoloco Podcast 009: SASSE

    Hi Everyone,

Hope you're OK. We've actually had this podcast released since early February on Soundcloud (http://soundcloud.com/ketoloco/sasse3) but Podomatic have been acting like fascists so it's a little late to be released on here. It will be a welcome surprise for anyone who missed it first time round!

Ketoloco favourite and Moodmusic boss Sasse likes to go deep. His label celebrates 15 years in action this year. That means 15 years of fresh house, disco tinged tech and various other styles of 4/4 as produced by close associates like Henrik Schwarz and Nick Chacona - expect melody and plenty of groove and you'll not be left wanting.

This podcast epitomises Sasse as a DJ and a label boss. ENJOY!

    Ketoloco Podcast 008: MARIO BASANOV

    Ketoloco Podcast 008: MARIO BASANOV

Mario Basanov's plastic has been firmly in our record bags for months here at Ketoloco.  His forward thinking take on the current disco-tinged house vibe is refreshing to say the least.  With high profile release's on Needwant and a superb remix of Hercules & Love Affair's hit 'Falling' last summer, Mario is flying and 2012 will be his.
We're really pleased to have secured Mario for a performance at lour Ketoloco Polar Party on Friday 3rd February at The Basing House, London.  Funktion One, exposed brick, intimate vibes, 400 people raving in ski gear, leg warmers and stupid hats. Perfect.

    Ketoloco Podcast 007: ALEX NIGGEMANN

    Ketoloco Podcast 007: ALEX NIGGEMANN

Ketoloco's OO7 is Mr. Alex Niggemann and this podcast is definately a secret weapon. Alex leaves behind his trademark deeper grooves and gives us a highly charged dance floor orientated house mix. This should raise a few eyebrows and keep many feet a tapping. It spans various forms of underground house music with shades of acid, tech, deep & jackin' all nicely broken up with soulful vocal cuts. Enjoy!

     Ketoloco Podcast 006: JEF K

     Ketoloco Podcast 006: JEF K

We are super proud to announce that our 6th podcast comes from Parisian house legend Jef K.  Head honcho of deep house imprint Silver Network, Jef K is a man constantly striving to push great deep house music to the masses.  This podcast, however, is a step in different direction from his usual deep house sound and delves expertly into the realms underground disco house.
Ketoloco caught up with Jef K for a chin wag...
    1) What have you been up to lately?Been touring a lot and working a lot on music lately, a lot of new releases are coming up including a new one on my label silver network with two originals from Death on the Balcony.  Remixes by myself & gwen maze, robert james, and valentin from paris will also be onn that EP.  There is also an original track and a remix for a very nice track from yakine on One Records - Birmingham, two original tunes by myself, gwen & alex murak on Italian label Rebirth and finally a remix for 2020 vision ... and so on!2) You were born and raised in the suburbs of Paris.  How did this influence you musically?i was raised with all kinds of 'black music', reggae, funk dico, hip hop ... everything with huge basslines so i went naturally to house music after that ... 3) A lot of people tend to say the French house scene was stronger back in the 90's, what are your thoughts on this?I think it's true, bak in the days we were really lucky to have all big dj's fighting to play in paris, then it went a bit down for a few years  but it's really changing now and paris is getting bigger and bigger nowadays partywise and musicwise ... a lot of new talents are coming up as well as new partypeople .... Paris is back bébé !! ;)
    4) Silver Network has become a classic deep house label. Can Tell us about your ethos with the label?  Have you always led it in the same musical direction as you do now?My brother and i built the label back in 1999 and we have 30 releases so far, we always tried to have a certain quality ... As big fans of US house music here are a lot of american artists but we opened it a lot to all kinds of artists from europe also .... Not really caring about names but defintly caring about quality music ... 5) What are your past experiences of Ketoloco? Did you think about those when you were planning your mix?  I played ketoloco for easter bank holiday in london this year and had a real blast ... it was a beautiful sunny day and i only have great memories of it ... Of course i thought about it when doing this mix but it's not really what I play for you guys, it's takes a more disco journey.6) The podcast takes a more laid back route through disco house music. Do you prefer playing at slower tempos?Actually i love basslines and the slowest the better to enjoy them ... Also i like podcasts that are made for homelistening, i also like proper club sets, but i thought i should give you this one as i had a lot of beautiful tracks that are not always possible to play in clubs ...  7) How was the podcast produced?Did it this week end at home with my girlfriend as only audience ... She's really into music and gives me the good vibes i need to make a proper podcast ...8) When your not touring or in the studio, what do you do to relax? me and my girlfriend have two kids, no better way to relax than hanging with them ... 9) What's on the horizon for Jef K in 2011?More and more music more and more parties ... stay tuned !!

    Ketoloco Podcast 005: NICO PURMAN

    Ketoloco Podcast 005: NICO PURMAN

Nico Purman has kindly taken the time to create this wonderful two hour mix for our podcast ahead of his set at Ketoloco on Sunday 29th May. It's a real musical journey through all things house. You'll hear deeper grooves, electro vibes and acid sounds, separated by waves of layed back atmospheric bliss. Nico also throws in several of his own on-point productions.

Born and raised in Rosario Argentina, Nico Purman has been roasting the proverbial marshmallows since he first started collecting records at 12 years old. Those days of innocence were filled with not-yet-freaky Michael Jackson, soon after tainted with the New Beat sound coming out of Belgium (with bands like Jade 4 U and Erotic Dissidents), before being completely corrupted by the fabled late 1980's Chicago Acid House movement. Once debased, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, and The Cure quickly followed all leaving their influences on Nico.

At 17, Nico started to study percussion and played drums in local indie bands, recording in some of Buenos Aires' biggest studios. The experience left him with the taste of live performance and a deep understanding of rhythm, syncopation, and independence that only drumming can provide. With this classical insight into time and beat, Nico transitioned to vinyl and became one of Argentina's most respected DJ's. Armed with an expansive collection of music, he winds his audience through long hypnotizing sets of tough mood and movement, interlaced with selected loops and samples accentuating his motivational transfer.
