    5. The Parables Of Jesus - If I Just...

    5. The Parables Of Jesus - If I Just...

One of the most important things to us in our culture is that people understand how much we have done to deserve where we are at. We have a consistent talk of self-promotion that declares us fully justified in our action, or lack there of. This has led us to a very similar place as the people of Jesus’ time. They believed that through the Law they were able to fully justify themselves. Jesus consistently taught that the Law itself pointed out our need for a savior, not that if we are good enough we can be our own savior.

As we look through the parable of the Good Samaritan we can see how Jesus turned the dime on the self-justified culture, and called them(and us) to realize our brokenness and inability to justify ourselves. To turn to the only on why can justify us. Join us this weekend to dive into this powerful section of scripture together!

    Key Scripture - Luke 10:25-37

    4. The Parables of Jesus - Promotion Sunday

    4. The Parables of Jesus - Promotion Sunday

Have you ever lost something valuable? What lengths did you go to find it, restore it, or even replace it? Many of us most likely have quite extensive stories involving recovering lost items.

There came a time when Jesus addressed the difference between what people value and what God values. Even the spiritual people of the day were valuing the wrong things, but the tragedy was they could not see it.

Come join us this Sunday as we look into what does God value most, what is He willing to do to obtain that, and do our values match up with His?

Key Verse - Luke 15:4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?

    3. The Parables of Jesus - Rejoicing in the Rebel’s Return

    3. The Parables of Jesus - Rejoicing in the Rebel’s Return

Isaiah 53:6 says “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

The free gift he offers is eternal life through acknowledging our sin and turning in faith to Jesus. Every true believer has this story, so we can all relate to the prodigal in Jesus’ parable.

Having received God’s grace, how welcoming are we to those in whom the Spirit is working to draw to Jesus? Do we frown in disgust or do we welcome the penitent sinner with open arms? We are called to have the mind and heart of Christ. Let’s learn from God’s heart and let Him live through us as a local church!

Key Verse: Luke 15:32 “It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.”

    2. The Parables of Jesus - Expensively Free

    2. The Parables of Jesus - Expensively Free

I love watching movies and shows about looking for treasure. The “inner-pirate” in me loves the adventure, passion, and pursuit. People will give everything they have chasing after gold that may or may not exist, but I want you to image that you have found a treasure you weren’t expecting. Something far greater than gold. Something so valuable it causes everything else in life to pale in comparison.

What would you give to gain that treasure? Our values can often be found in our bank statements, because we spend on what we care about. Our culture thrives on having what we want, taking what we want, or longing for what we want. This is not the way of a Christ follower! We are to live differently because we are citizens of a Kingdom that is more valuable than anything this world has to offer.

Join us this weekend to dive into Jesus’ parables about the Kingdom of God, and how we are to live as citizens of it in this world.

    Key passages: Matthew 13:44-46, 1 John 2:15-17

    1. The Parables of Jesus - Is The Kingdom a Priority?

    1. The Parables of Jesus - Is The Kingdom a Priority?

Come join us this weekend as we celebrate mother day and kickoff our series in the parables of Jesus. The “kingdom of God” is one of the most used phrase by Jesus and the Apostles when referencing sharing the good news about Jesus. So what is the kingdom of God? How do we enter it? And most importantly, what kingdom are you a citizen of?

Matthew 22:1-2: “And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,”
