    Bio…

Rory is an author, speaker, health futurist, digital nomad, and Allied Health professional based in Bali “the island of the gods”. He takes a “big picture” approach to good health & wellbeing and has a passion for helping people ignite their human potential & optimise this once in a lifetime human experience.

He decided to create http://selfcare.global/ as a platform to help people help themselves. Reminding everyone that our human vessels have the amazing innate wisdom to thrive, not just survive. We don’t need to be fixed by gurus or expensive coaches/consultations as a foundation. We simply need to be nourished by healthy environments & connected as communities (Bluezones). In the same way, it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to heal the sick and thrive together.

He uses the #fillyourcup method as a way to help people fill their own cup with daily selfcare rituals that empower each individual to learn, do & embody these each day so that they too can serve from abundant overflow. Creating a ripple effect of positive social impact starting at their front doorstep.

By empowering people to go first, he hopes to inspire them to influence their proximity to family & friends. He believes that if we each had the courage to go first and impact our local community. Together, we could create a ripple effect that changes the world.

Rory hopes to help people raise their individual and collective consciousness so that we can co-create a world that is healthy, happy and connected. He imagines a world where good health and wellbeing is a human right for all people, not just some. Where we all live as global #bluezone communities connected as one. #wemeone

#26 - BJJ - Life as a teenage athlete with Lani Strijbosch

#26 - BJJ - Life as a teenage athlete with Lani Strijbosch

BJJ fighter and Environmentalist, Lani is a 16 year old competitive athlete training out of RitualsJJ in Bali located at Nirvana Strength.

In 2016, my parents and I settled in Bali, Indonesia after leaving Belgium and traveling for 8 months. What I missed most was participating in high level sports where I pursued my passion with like-minded people. Unfortunately, they do not have competitive gymnastics here. I was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a self-defence martial art and fell in love.

In January 2018, a father of a friend asked if I wanted to join a BJJ competition in March. I fought boys and adult women at the age of 14 and I knew this is what I wanted to do.

I prepare myself for competitions by doing training camps which last around 8 weeks. During this time, I train 20 hours a week which includes gi, no gi, and strength training. To be able to train these hours and keep up with schoolwork, I spend time training mentally: meditation, mindfulness, and breathing exercises. I also make sure to prevent injuries and help my body recover by going in the sauna, ice bath, and getting weekly massages.

I am willing to endure this hectic schedule and sacrifice a normal teenage life because I love BJJ! It is unlike any other sport; it is based on the science and art of submitting your opponent through technique and strategy. While strength and weight come into play, it is known to give lighter people the chance to beat heavier opponents. Additionally, BJJ allows me to think on my feet as it’s always changing. This cycle of problem-solving is what keeps BJJ both interesting and challenging. I enjoy pushing myself to the absolute limit and then finding out that was not the limit at all.

    #25 - Rituals Jiu-Jitsu with Justin Sidelle

    #25 - Rituals Jiu-Jitsu with Justin Sidelle

Justin Sidelle was born in the San Francisco bay area in California. Justin started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2005 after seeing elements of the art in early UFC fights.

Justin competed regionally and internationally in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with notable achievements in the US Open, American Cup, Bay Area Invitational, and Taiwan International Championships.

In September 2014, Justin received his black belt from Olavo Abreu in Phuket, Thailand. After receiving his Black Belt, Justin focused primarily on coaching athletes for professional MMA teams in Bali and Thailand while still competing internationally.

In between coaching professional athletes and competing, Justin concentrated on refining his Gi programs and sharing his love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through seminars and group classes around the world.

In 2020 Justin founded Rituals Jiu-Jitsu team in Bali Indonesia.

“ I’m at a point now with my Jiu-Jitsu, where I am ready to build my own team. I have been very fortunate to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu all around the world. I now want to share all my systems and techniques with martial artists who are ready to share my vision.

I always dreamed of living the jiu-jitsu lifestyle, and looking back; I had a defining moment. It was in 2010 when I made a trip to Thailand and did a month-long training camp in Phuket. This was the first time I tasted the Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle to the fullest, which forever changed my life.

It fueled my passion and gave me direction with what I wanted to create with my jiu-jitsu, and I have been so grateful to be having such an incredible jiu-jitsu journey.

Now I get a chance to spark the same passion with my team, and I am excited to see where these experiences shape them and what jiu-jitsu brings into their lives.” - Justin Sidelle
