DJ Hariford: "I was raised in a christian family. I have always known God and was aware of his presence in my life. Somehow I could never land a job in full time ministry, so I have spent most of my spare time in volunteer ministry since 1987, in addition to my secular employment. Those activities/ministries included; Drama, puppets, teen ministry, praise and worship band, and small group leader. During most of those years I was also writing for a prison ministry that began as "River of life" but ultimately became "Prospecting in the Word." I wrote an article which I called "DJisms". It was my personal mission to help our recent christian readers understand these new Christianese words and terms, as well as challenge a more mature christian to look at a word they know in a different way. My greatest delight is getting a response of "I never thought about it like that before!" A few years ago God told me to write a book. I had no plans to write one. In following His lead, I compiled a list of my top articles for the last many years based on survey results. The result is an encouraging book filled with some very revealing stories from my life as they were the inspiration for my articles. "The First Book of Isms" is raw, honest and human. Lani Woods is a native of Los Angeles CA. single mother of two very active competitive kids. Lani has a diverse background health care, and services. Lani’s love for the health industry started young from her early years. She has worked as an EMT, Care Giver, and in Diagnostic Medical Imaging.
Lani is currently in completion of her Bachelor's of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She knew while facing difficulties growing up in poverty and not having access to a lot of resources and activities to promote physical and mental health that she had the resiliency to overcome. Lani used her passion for physical fitness as a coping mechanism for her depression in a toxic abusive relationship, and also as a bonding tool for her family.
Lani started a podcast called “Unrelenting Humans” after suffering a complex leg injury, to Empower other athletes to share their stories of resilience and how they cope mentally when living with injuries and other impairments. Lani is also establishing a non profit to help the athletes in the underserved communities have access to resources they need to participate in sports to stimulate their full potential in the sport, community, life and intestinal fortitude.
