Jodie Fox On Learning From Triumph and Failure

Jodie Fox On Learning From Triumph and Failure

The higher the height, the greater the fall - or so they say. Jodie Fox has seen the business world from a dizzying height. Her footwear empire Shoes Of Prey – a fashion technology empire which customised every single pair of shoes that was delivered - raised over $35 million Australian dollars in venture capital. At their peak they had over 220 employees, and their store in Australian department store David Jones did double its forecasted revenue in the first 12 months, becoming the highest earner per square meter on the shoe floor. It was a runaway success. But in August 2018, the founders closed company after sales-growth didn’t match the pace needed for further investment. Jodie went on to write a brilliant book entitled Reboot: Probably More Than You Ever Wanted to Know about Starting a Global Business. She shared vulnerably and openly about her successes and her failures - and in this conversation, we ask all the nitty gritty questions about how the self-confessed ‘alpha girl’ has tackled identity, purpose, and her newest role - motherhood. Whether you’re interested in building a business, in leadership styles, in the lows and whys of moving internationally, or you’re just looking for a hell of a story, strap in for this raw and honest ride as we talk shoes, shame, and oversharing.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas On Embracing The In-Between Moments

Priyanka Chopra Jonas On Embracing The In-Between Moments

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s new memoir entitled Unfinished is the in-between-interviews book and in it, you’ll get the deepest look into the actor’s life. And in our conversation today, Priyanka opens up about just this – the in-between moments in life and why they’re often the most defining.

She talks about how being sent to boarding school when she was eight-years-old shaped her, and how the initial feeling of abandonment grew into independence. Nothing is off limits in this honest and at times, vulnerable chat, as she talks about her experience with depression (she experienced depression following the death of her father), bulling and racism and, how it’s “painfully ironic” that in a country populated by people who are all shades of brown, the standard of beauty is white.

Priyanka’s parents taught her that confidence is something you can work to develop and something you have to work to maintain for life – and despite sixty-five movies and a two-decades-long career in India and the US, it’s something she continues to work on.

We also talk about true love and what that means to her (Priyanka is married to Jonas Brother Nick Jonas).

And being an AllBright interview, we of course talk about the role of sisterhood in her life and the team of women she surrounds herself with.

Supermodel Ashley Graham on Being A Change Maker

Supermodel Ashley Graham on Being A Change Maker

Welcome to Season 3 of the Sisterhood Works podcast. Now, if you aren’t one of the millions of people who has watched American model Ashley Graham’s TED talk ‘Plus Size? More Like my Size’, then make sure you watch it. Her words – spoken 6 years ago – are as relevant now as they were then.

Ashley Graham is many things. Yes, she’s a supermodel – my gosh is she a supermodel - but she’s also a powerful role model for all women. According to the fashion industry, she’s also plus size (and just so we’re clear – the outstated and frankly insulting label of plus size refers to any woman who is a size US 8 to 16). She’s a businesswoman. She’s a mother to son Isaac. The new face of inclusive Australian fashion label Commonry, which dresses women from AU size 10 to 22 in fit-driven, fashion-forward clothes.  And has one of the best laughs we’ve ever heard.

Ashley is like a best friend to her 12m plus followers on Instagram. She’s 100% authentic, which is one of the reasons she’s so likeable.

At Allbright, we back women who champion change. We back women who aren’t afraid to speak their minds. Through her campaigning for more body positivity, inclusivity, and diversity in the beauty and fashion industry, Ashley has changed the lives of millions of women around the world (her mother predicted she’d do this as you’ll discover in this episode).

In today’s conversation we talk about it all – sisterhood, of course, because that’s at the heart of everything AllBright stands for. We talk about how Gen Z is taking over the world, how to tackle the ‘nos’ in our lives, why the size of our bodies doesn’t dictate our worth, and so much more.

    Let’s meet our girl crush.
