4infour talks to Jason McMahon about his life changing mental health journey.

Ten years ago, Jason had it all, a wife, a son, a comfortable family home and a job in the fitness industry that he adored. Then, thing started to go wrong. Jason’s role was made redundant, his relationship with his wife broke down and his mother died. Jason started to exercise less and drink more. Despite several friends and colleagues checking in with him, Jason refused to admit to himself that he was struggling. His mental health plummeted to a point when Jason decided to end his life.

Fortunately, a call to the Samaritans marked a turning point in Jason’s life. That was back in 2013.

Since then, Jason has been on an incredible journey of learning, discovery and recovery. Today, in addition to working with a Berkshire based homeless charity, Jason is the founder of Support in Mind. Through sharing his own lived experience and the application of several years of training and education, Jason is raising awareness of mental health, teaching both employers and employees the value in creating a culture where it’s ok not to be ok.
