**Legal system tip - If unable to appear in court, a criminal defendant may request that their lawyer or public defender be allowed to appear on their behalf. 

This can be very useful and help free you up to handle various other obligations, but can carry its own risk of being deemed a failure to appear if the judge isn't on board. Communicate closely with your representation to learn if opting for Special Appearances can help you.

Did you know I once tried to be a cop?

I sit with my friend, Kris (next episode), and we touched on the idea of qualifications during our conversation. This clip has been edited out of the next episode, but you can hear it here - Really quick story about my experience and why I'm not a police officer today.

Note: In 2015, law enforcement executed a region wide raid on the bail bond industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the time, I was working at a bail company and was caught up in the sweeps - don't worry, I'm innocent.
