Professor Rangi is a pioneer in Māori astronomy and in particular Matariki. His research and unique ability to share knowledge has led to Matariki now being a public holiday in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
It's been 5 years since he last sat across from me and in this conversation we dive into Matariki, meaningful Matariki moments, Matariki and healing, the concept of time, his desire to step back and what he plans to focus his energy on next.

Hiko is the youngest tāne Māori competing in Crossfit in the elite mens division. He recently competed inTorian Pro which is the best of the best in Aotearoa and Australia, which was his second time making it. His main focus this year was being Māori and utilising the aspect of whānau and mātaraunga Māori.
Hiko also shares how his whānau incorperate the Maramataka and how they come toegther to celebrate during Matariki. Hiwa i te Rangi is one of the 9 stars of Matariki who is linked to dreams and aspirations. Hiko speaks into his process as an athelete to achieve the goals he has set for himself.

Eru Kapa-Kingi EP2 w/ Eru Kapa-Kingi is known for standing on the frontline helping whānau to reclaiming tino rangatiratanga through breaking down and better understanding He Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. "Māori never ceded sovereignty".

He also shares how his journey relates to the wind element using kōrero related to Ururangi, which is one of the 9 stars of the Matariki cluster that is linked to the winds as well as pūrakau of Tawhirimatea, who is the god of all winds.

After a 13 month hiatus the Planting Seeds Podcast is back and man it feels good!
