#TNWAQ7 - Leilani Dowding. Do people realise how much social media manipulates them? - #TNWAQ That Nurse Who Asks Questions

    • Sociedad y cultura

Imagine people saying to you - yeah but you were a teenager 20 years ago, you were a student 20 years ago, you didn't have children 20 years ago, you were fill in the blanks. Leilani was a page 3 model 20 years ago and for some reason today many people will use that to discredit her views today. Make it make sense. Social media manipulates people by using algorithms and targeted advertising to present them with content that aligns with their interests and biases, creating a filter bubble that limits their exposure to diverse perspectives and information. Additionally, social media platforms use psychological tactics such as notifications and likes to create a sense of validation and addiction, leading users to spend more time on the platform and become increasingly reliant on it for information and social connection. This manipulation can also lead to the spread of false information and the erosion of privacy.

In this episode, I speak with Leilani Dowding, a former model, on the effects of social media on people’s lives. Leilani shares how she started her modeling career, how social media is affecting the modeling industry today, and tips to get past social media criticism. Leilani also talks about the difference between dating online and in person, and the negative effects of social media.
