We've been diving heads first into the technical design structure of Bitcoin L2s over the last two weeks with the goal of uncovering what is really happening behind the scenes in this space.



Today's video, we did just that with Jagdeep Sindhu. Jag is a seasoned Bitcoin OG and has a strong opinion about the acceptable trust assumptions in Bitcoin scaling designs.



Jag's vision is to transform Bitcoin into a 'super chain' where utility and security are both achievable without unnecessary tradeoffs. Rollux uses merge mining to borrow Bitcoin's security, while introducing chain locks every fifth block to enforce finality and prevent long-range attacks on the sidechain.



They also have their own zk based DA solution which powers their chain. By combining elements of PoW and PoS for enhanced security, Rollux is trying to build secure interoperability solution. We discussed the future outlook for Rollux being a secure transfer hub for Bitcoin and other chains like Ethereum and Avalanche as well.

Alpen Labs is a project that is making significant strides in the world of ZK rollups. In our conversation with David Seroy, we explore the evolution of Bitcoin scaling solutions and the story of how Bitcoin scaling really started.



David and the Alpen Labs team have been pioneering the research around Bitcoin scaling since the earliest of days.



We talked about this story and David also shared his insights into how Alpen Labs prioritizes trust minimization and efficient design to enhance Bitcoin's scalability while preserving its decentralized nature as the core ethos.



We delve into the technical design choices that set Alpen apart as well as their focus on ZK as the endgame. We talked about their implementation of BitVM and how they have made technical strides in addition to other researchers. We also discuss the challenges and opportunities in Bitcoin scaling, including liquidity issues and the potential of future soft forks like OPcat and covenants.



Looking ahead, Alpen envisions building a robust financial ecosystem on Bitcoin, focusing on financial applications such as Bitcoin-backed stablecoins, perpetuals, and hash rate futures. We're sure you've heard of zero knowledge proofs through our various pieces with industry leaders, but have you heard of zero trust protocols? From what we understand, its a newly coined term to describe the multi party computation tech utilized by the dWallet team.



In today's presentation, we take a closer look at the evolution from the "castle and moat" model to zero trust. We discussed how traditional internet companies initially used the castle and moat model, but shifted towards zero trust due to its enhanced security.



We went on to discuss how dWallet Network is reintroducing zero trust in cross-chain environments using cryptographic techniques like a new MPC protocol, 2PC MPC. 2PC MPC ensures transactions require user participation, maintaining zero trust even if validators collude.



This approach is crucial for maintaining Bitcoin's security ethos while enabling advanced functionalities, such as decentralized custody solutions, staking, atomic swaps, lending, and other cross-chain functionalities.



Applying zero trust in cross-chain environments is complex due to having to settle different blockchain states and the necessity to trust third parties for this state validation. We discuss how dWallet is setting the standard for what this should look like using their zero trust protocols.

The Bitcoin ecosystem is leapfrogging the development trajectory put forth by the Ethereum community



Today's piece focuses on how potential upgrades to the Bitcoin technologies like BitVM and OPCAT are opening up fresh possibilities for utilizing Bitcoin. Bitcoin has often been viewed as "conservative", but recent advancements suggest it could leapfrog over previous limitations, learning from Ethereum's experiences.



We sit down Carsten of Cartesi to discuss how BitVM introduces new capabilities for offchain computation and enhances Bitcoin Script with innovative functions like hash implementations and Merkle tree proof validation. However, the road ahead isn't without challenges. There isn't enough experimental data to predict how new implementations will work in practice, and there's skepticism about the safety of large amounts of BTC the asset on L2s.

We all know Bitcoin as the original Proof of Work chain, so how does staking come into play?



In today's episode we explore CoreDAO's consensus mechanism, staking offering, and technical bridging architecture. CoreDAO is aiming to separate Bitcoin’s asset value from its transactional rails, enabling higher throughput and lower cost ecosystems. This separation allows Bitcoin to be used more efficiently, particularly through bridging and HTLC atomic swapping.



By introducing the Satoshi Plus consensus, CoreDAO combines Bitcoin mining, staking, and Core token staking for cryptoeconomic security.



The vision of CoreDAO is to create a modular approach to Bitcoin, similar to Ethereum’s rollup-centric roadmap, making Bitcoin more scalable and efficient while maintaining its core ethos.



We talked about CoreDAO's focus on Bitcoin alignment, bringing Bitcoin holders and miners into consensus, which is crucial for addressing long-term sustainability issues, such as reliance on transaction fees post-halving.
