This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent means the “arrival” or the “coming into” of a new season. But how can we have “arrived” and also still “coming into” something? So often in life we find ourselves living in the “already but not yet”. Most of life is lived in the in-between. Lets take a look at a story of Jesus and the disciples as they travel from where they were to where they are headed. How do we handle the storms that come up in the in-between?

In Proverbs 9 Solomon writes that, "fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". Many of us can know the wise thing to do, but do we have the recognition and the reverence towards the Lord to submit our will to His will?

Most of us have been to an arcade where you earn tickets to redeem for a prize. The prize is always underwhelming for the amount of tickets it takes. We grow up and find that not much has changed. The tickets look a bit different and we can never get enough of them. God calls his people to irrational generosity. It doesn’t make sense but He says that generosity leads to a larger and blessed life.
