Continuing with the Keyes story, I pick up on his personal life and the circumstances of his move to Alaska. I discuss the Church of Wells, the cult which his parents and siblings joined. Then there are the bank robberies, then the kill kits and the kidnappings. I discuss the theories that Keyes was the Boca Killer, and then we get to the formal serial killings leading up to the Samantha Koenig case, which was the case for which he was caught and arrested.

I discuss the circumstances of his arrest, the police's early discoveries, and the unique route they chose to extradite him.

    cw: rape, assault, etc.

This is the first episode about the serial killer Israel Keyes. I begin with the logical starting place: the Keyes family, and get into a brief history of Christian Identity in the UK and US. From there, we discuss the Kehoe family including some interesting details which are often left out of the conversation.

Then I go over Israel's early life and upbringing, his early military service, his first major relationship, and end discussing Israel's Grand Plan.

(note 1: I wrote and recorded this before I had Wendy Painting on the show and consequently realized I kept saying 'Aberrations' instead of Aberration in the Heartland of the Real, the correct title

note 2: I have learned much more about Fort Gulick since writing these episodes and I think Keyes was trained there)

Premium Episode 71 - Bolaño’s By Night in Chile, or, Bolaño’s Fully Gladiopilled, feat. Dani and Rodolfo

Today I'm joined by Dani and Rodolfo to discuss three Bolaño novels: the Third Reich, Distant Star, and By Night in Chile. In this episode, we discuss By Night in Chile. In this novel, Bolaño examines the fascist mindset via religion and literary criticism. Along the way, we get into how Bolaño was completely gladiopilled.

Today I'm joined by Dani and Rodolfo to discuss three Bolaño novels: the Third Reich, Distant Star, and By Night in Chile. In this episode, we discuss Distant Star. In this novel, Bolaño examines the fascist mindset via the specifically Chilean context of the 1973 coup, Pinochet's Chile, death squads, and the New Chilean poetry.

Note: although this may just be Bolaño's literary invention, there was a skywriter present during the PBSUCCESS invasion in Guatemala, though he was not a poet (or serial killer) but a used car salesman from the US.

Today I'm joined by Dani and Rodolfo to discuss three Bolaño novels: the Third Reich, Distant Star, and By Night in Chile. In this episode, we reintroduce Bolaño and then dive into a less-discussed work, the Third Reich. In this novel, Bolaño examines the fascist mindset via its historical ideology of Nazism mediated through tabletop wargames and the LARPing that ensues. Along the way, we talk about why Germans are like that and get into the tragic tale of Latin American history.

The heists will continue until morale improves. We finish the story of José Vigoa by following the rest of his heist career. Then we discuss the circumstances surrounding his arrest and imprisonment, the discovery of his Spetsnaz commando background, and some of his purported intelligence activities post-arrest.

This brings us to the topic of Cuban intelligence operations in the US, which in turns requires us to discuss the one source for this story - John Huddy. As it turns out, that's a very interesting story, too.
