Ramblings - A minute with Tim Reid Tim Reid

A week before I interview someone on my podcast, I call them for a 5-minute chat. It establishes rapport, allows them to ask me any questions and often uncovers cool stuff to talk about in the actual interview.

Due to the nature of my show, my guests are always successful, self-made folk - busy, on-the-go, with a hundred balls in the air, so often they can be short. That's cool. I totally get that.

But today was different.

I called a guy who owns a national franchise with 40+ stores (that have been hit hard by COVID-19), a wholesale business and interests in many other businesses.

I called him expecting to get the short-shift.

Instead, upon him answering and me saying "Hi, have you got 2-minutes?" his immediate reply was "G'day Tim, I've got ten!"

Make of this simple, benign story what you will.

But my takeaway is, no matter who you are, no matter what your title, we all need to find time for others. No one's more important than anyone else, we've all got shit going on, and yes, time is currency.

But in these tough times, making space for someone is a gift, and it might just make their day.

Maybe even change their life.

And it'll do you the world of good, as well.
