    Ethics of Photojournalism

    Ethics of Photojournalism

Hello! Welcome to our first podcast ever and we are so excited for you all to listen to us haha!

We realize that it is significant for us to discuss the utilization of what's right, what isn't. The world witnessed the first set of photos in 1826. Relatively, in a short period of time, photography developed- analog also called film photography evolved from black and white to colour photography. This paved the path for motion pictures to take place, giving us the gloriousness of cinema.

Today millions and billions of images are captured, shared with people all over the world through various social media platforms. Cameras are all over the place- mobile phones, our homes, computers, cars and even the wearables. We trust these devices to give us a sneak peek into the realities of life, help us document moments in time that we can always go back to.

But it is the same technology which has given birth to such manipulation of the reality. Magazine covers, profile pictures, internet sites, illegal platforms! Media as an entire spectrum has become an important tool to manipulate and influence people. This brings us to this question- "Should photography only be allowed to display reality or does it make it an acceptable form of altering images for the purpose of presentation among other self serving issues. Here we are trying to answer these questions with Mr. Bikash Das. Renowned photographer from West Bengal.
