JCMS in Conversation Megan Robinson

Join Jason Richards as he chats with Sonita Alleyne, Master of Jesus College Cambridge, for our final episode of Michaelmas term. Sonita takes us through her experience as a jazz singer and outlines some albums which have a personal meaning to her. These include 'Leave My Name at the Door' by District Six (live at the Bass Clef, London), 'Great Western Street' by Chapter & The Verse and 'Further Back Than The Beginning' by Speakers Corner Quartet.

JCMS President, Jason Richards, and JCSU President Aurelio Petrucci discuss a fantastic range of repertoire and albums. They cover Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 (Ode an die Freiheit - Bernstein in Berlin and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra), Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen (Pierre Boulez and the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra) and both Mozart's Requiem (Musica Aeterna, Teodor Currentzis and The New Siberian Singers) and Le nozze di Figaro (Musica Aeterna, Teodor Currentzis). Aurelio talks about his fascinating experience of performances in Newcastle and the effect that this music has had on himself.
