भगवती चरण वर्मा  का जीवन परिचय /Bhagwati Charan Verma ka Jeevan Parichay

भगवती चरण वर्मा का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के उन्नाव जिले में हुआ था।
उन्होंने प्रयागराज से बी॰ए॰, एल॰एल॰बी॰ की डिग्री प्राप्त की लेकिन उनकी
रूचि कविता लेखन में थी । फिर उपन्यासकार के रूप में वे विख्यात हुए। वर्मा
जी ने 1936 के करीब फिल्म कारपोरेशन, कलकत्ता में कार्य भी किया। ‘विचार’ नामक साप्ताहिक के प्रकाशन-संपादन के बाद बंबई में फिल्म-कथालेखन उन्होंने किया। इसके उपरांत  दैनिक ‘नवजीवन’ का सम्पादन, फिर आकाशवाणी के कई केंन्दों में कार्य भी वर्मा जी ने किया। 
उनके उपन्यास ‘चित्रलेखा’  पर दो बार फिल्म-निर्माण हुआ। पद्मभूषण तथा
राज्यसभा की मानद सदस्यता भी उन्हें प्राप्त हुई।

Shrilal Shukla was a civil servant and a very observant one too! What he saw around him the hinterlands of Uttar Pradesh and in the corridors of power in big cities gave him ample material for his rich life as a writer. Rural decay and urban apathy, all found their way in his satirical novels. The best known of which remains ‘Raag Darbari’. The novel inspired a TV serial in its time. Some say the current hit webseries Panchayat too has a Raag Darbari flavor.

एक आईएएस अधिकारी के रूप में श्रीलाल शुक्ल ने उत्तर प्रदेश के भीतरी इलाकों और बड़े शहरों में सत्ता के गलियारों में जो देखा, उससे उन्हें अपने व्यंगात्मक लेखन के लिए पर्याप्त सामग्री मिली। ग्रामीण पतन और शहरी उदासीनता, सभी ने उनके उपन्यासों में जगह पाई। उनके उपन्यासों में सबसे प्रसिद्ध है  'राग दरबारी' है। बहुत साल पहले इस उपन्यास पर एक टीवी सीरियल भी बना था। कुछ लोगों का कहना है कि मौजूदा हिट वेबसीरीज पंचायत में भी राग दरबारी का सा रस है।

1960’s was an era of literary experimentation and introspection. The
stories often reflected on the juggernaut of rapid urbanisation and the
social changes transforming post-independence India. Gyanranjan, despite
having written far fewer stories than his contemporaries became one of
the most popular names in Sathotri Sahitya (literature of the 60’s).
This story is an example of psychoanalytic writing that was a distinct
departure from themes of traditional stories until then.

Shekhar Joshi was born in Almora, Uttarakhand. His stories carried his home in them. An important voice in the ‘Nayi Kahani’ movement of Hindi literature, Joshi’s stories talked of the struggles of his people, their poverty, exploitation and resistance. This story ‘Dajyu’ was also made into a film by the Children’s Film Society of India.
