Episode 192: Ruben Zarate #3 (Dante Elephante)

Episode 192: Ruben Zarate #3 (Dante Elephante)

Presenting in a confident manner, listening to podcasts at the gym, and the idea of a Steely Dan play. Ruben Zarate (Dante Elephante)

"Santa Barbara-based Ruben Zarate created the musical persona known as Dante Elephante in 2013. Shortly thereafter Lollipop Records released his first two LPs, German Aquatics and Anglo-Saxon Summer, both produced by Jonathan Rado (Foxygen), which saw praise from Consequence of Sound, Funny or Die, and Brooklyn Vegan. In the summer of 2018 Elephante then digitally released a full-length, Rare Attractions, leading to appearances at SXSW, Treefort Festival, as well as tours supporting The Orwells, Summer Salt, and Real Estate. Two records and a headlining tour under his belt, Dante Elephante now offers his most accomplished work to date: Mid-Century Modern Romance, produced by Paul Cherry, features eight soulful, disco-kissed tracks, seemingly right out of 1979." Episode 191: Bert Hoover #2 (Hooveriii, Groop)

Curating an arc, being a caveman among futureman, and playing a bong. Bert Hoover (Hooveriii, Groop)

"Having originally been born as a solo drum machine project by Bert Hoover, Hooveriii (pronounced "Hoover Three") has now evolved into it's true final form - a six member band adept at creating their own brand of psychedelic space rock. And after almost a decade in, the band is set to release their sophomore album and debut for The Reverberation Appreciation Society, Water For The Frogs. Influenced by Iggy’s The Idiot, Bowie’s Berlin records, and Soft Machine, the LP sees the band creating their own version of prog rock, circa 2021." Excerpt from https://hooveriii.bandcamp.com

Episode 190: Corey Madden (Color Green)

The dampening of the dogs at Home Depot in winter, winning a cellphone at a carnival, and scoping out other Toyota Venzas. Corey Madden (Color Green)

Color Green - "Four Leaf Clover" [Official Music Video]- https://www.youtube.com/watch

"Color Green is an American cosmic rock and roll duo made up of Noah Kohll and Corey Madden . The fleet-fingered guitar gurus formed the group in 2018 after jamming their way through a lengthy modal excursion into a particularly kaleidoscopic stretch of the astral plane. Their debut, self-titled EP arrives in 2020 on Maximum Exposure after two long, strange years spent recording and performing in strange, mysterious spots of the Californian desert and worshipping nightly at the altar of Jerry Garcia." Episode 189: Joe Ghatt

    Episode 189: Joe Ghatt

A hazy period, the shower singers of New Zealand, and setting the premise. Joe Ghatt

    Joe Ghatt’s “Caper” - Green Marble LP [Pre-Order]- https://www.thirdeyestimuli.com/product

"After performing and collaborating with Kiwi Psych Rockers Arthur Ahbez and Kevin Hurts, Joe found some spare time to explore his own sonic palette, resulting in his cult collectible debut LP ‘Banana Sludge’ (2019). Joe’s very first release, full of tape and reverberated flavours, made waves across the globe, due to its timeless appeal and the co-release partnership between Third Eye Stimuli and Six Tonnes de Chair (France). Sure to please fans of The Babe Rainbow, Mystic Braves, White Fence and 60’s era groups like The Seeds and The Notorious Byrd Brothers, Joe Ghatt has a way of effortlessly fusing classic and nostalgic music with his own authentic and potent sound — all recorded the old fashion way — straight to magnetic tape. During his maiden tour of Australia, his band performed at a slew of sold out shows, where he successfully transformed his humble home recordings into a wild performance, full of extended jams and flowing improvisation. In 2020 the band supported California’s Allah Las on their tour of NZ, playing sold out shows to rooms full of adoring fans." Excerpt from https://www.thirdeyestimuli.com/joe-ghatt

Episode 188: Jake Garcia (The Black Angels)

Episode 188: Jake Garcia (The Black Angels)

Meditative swimming, the bottomless pit of the 60’s, and the treat of a record. Jake Garcia (The Black Angels, The Ripe, Christian Bland & The Revelators, Alex Maas, The Ugly Beats)

"The best music reflects a wide-screen view of the world back at us, helping distill the universal into something far more personal. Since forming in Austin in 2004, The Black Angels have become standard-bearers for modern psych-rock that does exactly that, which is one of many reasons why the group’s new album, Wilderness of Mirrors, feels so aptly named. In the five years since the band’s prior album, Death Song, and the two-plus years spent working on Wilderness of Mirrors, pandemics, political tumult and the ongoing devastation of the environment have provided ample fodder for the Black Angels’ signature sonic approach." Episode 187: Sergio A. Rios (Orgone)

Episode 187: Sergio A. Rios (Orgone)

Satisfying interpretations, the truth of a moment captured well enough, and blending to taste. Sergio A. Rios (Orgone)

"Now and always, Orgone delivers dirty, organic, California soul with heart; music that grabs you by the collar, pulls you to your feel and shoves you wantingly onto the dance floor. It all started with two kids from the San Fernando Valley, whose shared affinity for gritty soul records of the 60s and 70s collided with the colorful music cultures brewing in Los Angeles during the late 90s. That friendship sparked a movement, and Orgone has been delivering nothing but gold to the funk faithful ever since. Formed in the late 1990s in Los Angeles, Orgone remains dedicated to creating heavy, raw, adrenaline-fueled funk and sweat-dripping soul. With a core rhythm section of close friends and self-taught musicians steeped in the DJ culture of L.A., Orgone has spent the last decade expanding their roster and evolving a sound that simultaneously recognizes its roots in old school respect and pulsates with the force of the new millennium. While becoming a staple on the festival circuit in the early 2000s, Orgone has gained a reputation among fellow artists for being one of the baddest go-to backing bands on the planet."
