2. On this episode we are joined by the founder of Caffeinated Media Solutions, Mariam Demian. Mariam talks about being an Immigrant from Cairo, starting a business, finding a speciality, networking and what “burn the boats” means to her.
Mariam tells us her story about being laid off twice and feeling despondent and tired of having someone else have that kind of power over her source of income. She committed to building her business in 2019 and has never looked back and currently runs her media company as a solopreneur.
We dive into topics including changing trends in media, how to get a job at a media agency and even tips on how to start your own agency! Mariam shares her thoughts on how entrepreneurship is often portrayed as all positivity, rainbows and butterflies...but a lot of the time being a business owner is a stressful time...it’s coffee stains, tears, headaches and a smile on a video call with a prospective client. But is it worth it? Only the person in it can answer! It’s not for everyone but Mariam reminds us that it does not take having tons of capital or a perfect IG feed to "make it".
