Downfall
Bacon and Eggs was my favorite podcast of all time up until around mid 2019. I listened to every episode until then at least 3 times and I loved it. Unfortunately I now find the podcast unlistenable. I feel a lot of the charm has disappeared as the show grew, with the old jingle that was the intro being replaced with some Alan Silvestri type music and Carlin Brother Coffee being examples, and I could sense both Tyler and Ethan changing slightly as they grew in tandem with the podcast.
Ethan is a reason I had to stop listening. I feel that he is the main reason that the very title of the show is lying. This is no longer a movie “lovers” podcast, this is someone who truly believes they are a film critic despite the fact that this podcast was originally so much for fun and casual. I also cannot stand Ethans stigma against animated films. As an example, he ranted about animated film directors, and said that Spirited Away, one of if not THE greatest animated film of all time, is not a “1” on the binary scale as its anime, despite the fact that he HASNT SEEN IT. It’s so frustrating.
I have nothing for respect for these two men. Tyler is easily my favorite Carlin brother and I feel Year 1 of the podcast was near flawless once they both properly learned what they were doing. Disappointingly, the once hilarious and charming podcast that I would listen to more than music has become a shell of its self.
