Why Adrian Amos is underrated, and the most important Bears of 2017

Why Adrian Amos is underrated, and the most important Bears of 2017

Pro Football Focus caused quite a stir among Chicago Bears fans when they named Adrian Amos the team's secret superstar. On this episode of Bears Hour Live, hosts Lorin Cox and Phil Ottochian defended the third-year safety and made the case for optimism surrounding his career.

The most common criticism of Amos' play has been his lack of turnovers, and this episodes gets into the Xs and Os of creating turnovers and how the total number of interceptions isn't always indicative of a player's play-making ability.

The show moves on to debate the most important Bears players of 2017 with opinion split. Phil makes the case for Jordan Howard while Lorin looks a little more long-term and says Mitch Trubisky's 2017 season will be the most important for the team.

Throughout the conversation, they also end up covering the offensive line, the defensive line and the new faces in the secondary, with more of a big picture look at all of the "ifs" on this roster heading into the season.

Bears on the bubble: Who has the most to prove at training camp?

Bears on the bubble: Who has the most to prove at training camp?

Chicago Bears training camp is around the corner, and in this episode, Bears Hour Live looked at which players have the most pressure on them heading into the preseason.

Hosts Lorin Cox and Phil Ottochian debated which former first-round pick has more at stake -- Kevin White or Kyle Fuller? One hasn't been able to stay healthy, while the other is entering a contract year and is fighting for his roster spot.

They moved on to debate the backup running back spots, with a pessimistic outlook for former fourth-round pick Jeremy Langford, who faces an uphill battle with Benny Cunningham and Ka'Deem Carey for the third running back spot behind Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen.

The show wrapped up with a look at the safeties, a position loaded with young talent. The Bears will likely only keep four, maybe five, and the Bears really have seven players all worthy of a spot. Who could be the odd men out? Lorin and Phil made the case for each one.

How good can the Bears' defense be in 2017?

How good can the Bears' defense be in 2017?

The Chicago Bears outside linebackers got the hype train started on the tracks at organized team activites when Willie Young and Pernell McPhee spoke to the media. In this episode of Bears Hour Live, hear both edge rushers discuss their lofty expectations for the team's defense, and hosts Phil and Lorin break down just how good the group could be in 2017.

It all starts up front with the growth of the defensive line. This episode gets into how important a healthy Eddie Goldman is to the success of the front seven and how Jaye Howard could quiely be a huge signing coming in late May..

Then the focus is shifted to the outside linebackers, one of the deepest group of edge rushers in the NFL. In order for the Bears' defense to truly be great again, the four men at the top of the depth chart have to remain on the field for a full season, something they haven't yet been able to do together.

BHL finished with an overview of the new-look secondary, expressing confidence in the safety position with cautious optimism for the changes at cornerback that carry many of the same injury concerns seen elsewhere on the roster.

Is Kevin White a lock to make the Bears' roster?

Is Kevin White a lock to make the Bears' roster?

The Chicago Bears have 11 wide receivers under contract as they finish up organized team activities, and Bears Hour Live broke down all of them as this episode attemped to sift through the depth at the position.

Hosts Phil and Lorin had originally intended to talk about whether the team should pursue recently released Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, but the conversation quickly shifted to Kevin White and the Bears' already added veterans.

Halfway though the show, Draft Dr. Phil dropped a bombshell. He doesn't believe White is a lock to make the Bears' 53-man roster, and one caller in particular took to the phone lines to challenge his opinion. He isn't counting the former first round pick out just yet, but he isn't 100-percent confident that White will stay healthy and make the team.

This episode featured some healthy debate on the wide receiver position. Let us know on Twitter or Facebook how you feel about White and company, at Bears Hour Live.

Bears OTAs Update: Mike Glennon and Victor Cruz

Bears OTAs Update: Mike Glennon and Victor Cruz

The Chicago Bears organized team activities are the closest thing to actual football we have in May, so BHL hosts Lorin and Phil went through the latest news out of Halas Hall, starting with an update on new quarterback Mike Glennon.

They talk about how Glennon has grown since he left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and how the starting quarterback is handling the Mitch Trubisky situation. Bears Hour Live also looks ahead to the upcoming season at the position, discussing the history of Bears quarterbacks and what would happen if Glennon joins the recent history of injuries at the position.

This episode also dives in to the signing of former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, and the two hosts tell you why this signing has them more excited than any of the other receivers the team signed this offseason.

The show wraps up with a quick discussion of Kyle Long's move to left guard and what that could mean for his future and the future of the Bears' offensive line.
