Garion’s tripping on memories being recalled by the Orb, as the company flies down through the caves beneath Rak Cthol inside the earthquake triggered by Ctuchik’s utter destruction. He’s the one witness who truly understands the struggle of faith Relg goes through in his decision to pass through the rockfall and rescue Taiba.
Sondra has book promo excitement and nerves, and is fizzing over the new words she wrote into the draft of Emerald on Her Tongue. Creativism is how she lives! Also she performs a micro recorder concert, just livin’ her best Shire life.
Alysia’s in the flow of writing magic, stunning herself with the brilliance of her writing chops and remembering to love her 3D self. She convinces Sondra to stop being so stuck and decided about shows not being as good as the books from which they’re derived.
They’re both swapping discoveries of witches.

Alysia is finalising her last Raven Dreams book and finding inspiration in music again amid demanding household transformations.
They’re both of the opinion that motherhood is hard, breathing is good, and reading is a safe space.

Perceptions of Perverted Minds
Magician’s Gambit, Chapter 27
Garion follows Wolf through the strange and horrible rooms of Ctuchik’s tower as the orb song swells in his body and mind. His grandfather does battle with the evil magician until Ctuchik destroys himself, the aftermath of which cracks the city apart around them. In the end Garion scoops up the innocent orb thief just in time to flee the wreckage and re-enter the caves.
Sondra is in data overload recovery (again) after coming down from the excitement of fresh, juicy learnings and is reminding herself to also breathe.
Alysia is feeling the richness of her writing and the Muse is spinning tales for her to birth the fiction and nonfiction of our lives.
They’re both delighted to discover proof of a new and completely magical heart connection between the two of them. Soul sisters across the sea.

Garion is in the thrall of some intense emotions: fear saturated slave pens, Brill’s surprise ambush and Silk’s bout of hand-to-hand combat with the assassin, anger at the horror of worship in the temple of Torak, and the subsequent draining of his will to destroy it all.
Sondra has redesigned and reissued her whole Embodying Earth series of books and must be in alignment because she accidentally created a new book while she was at it.
Alysia is in a week of beginnings and nurturing her body, her dreaming, her financial resources, her self-assurance.
They’re both ready to welcome abundance into their lives. It’s all about lightening intense energies by rising to meet the call.

Serenading Death
Magician’s Gambit, Chapter 25
Garion follows Relg into the darkness of the caves beneath Rak Cthol, climbing up sheer rock for hours to reach the slave pens. He gives Taiba the escaped and dying Marag slave his cloak, and finds out Ctuchic killed her two baby girls, sacrificing them on the altar to Torak.
Sondra is intoxicated by the sensuousness of the warming forest. She’s cycled around to connecting with people and her creations again.
Alysia is once again experiencing the negatives and positives of corona times, and emerging into a blooming season.
They’re both centred in the clearing of whatever is ready to shift: emotional, physical, and spiritual.

An absolute delight
Alysia must have self-control stronger than the Sword of the Rivan King. She is the podcaster who is reading the series for the first time while Sondra - veterans of the 80's sitcom The Cosby Show have no problem distinguishing her name from 'Sandra'! - has read it multiple times over the years. How Alysia resists the urge to charge forward, I'll never know.
For it is the eagerness to read ahead that makes the Belgariad so great. It's a travelogue through the world he created, with new places and faces emerging as you go along, in the company of familiar faces giving you the benefit of their wit and wisdom along the way. Which, says he labouriously, is what also makes the podcast great. While I was initially uninterested in the way they bookended (so to speak) the discussion of the chapter with a recounting of their own lives that week at the start and some book-led philosophy at the end, in time I have come to relish joining them in their own travelogue. And if you want to skip to the book discussion, each episode has time stamps in the show notes. So if you're a fan of the books, and why would you be searching for the Belgariad if you were not, there's no excuse for not joining them in their journey through Eddings's world.
